London Has Big Ol' Eyes for Masha Tyelna
London not only continues to welcome an eye for the offbeat, but also to embrace all different beauty ideals on the catwalk. Koreans! Jamaicans! Belgians! Ethiopians! Even oh-so-exotic Ohio was on the map (what up, Edythe Hughes). Staples from New York Fashion Week like Coco Rocha, Du Juan, and a temporarily half-blind Agyness Deyn are all having big weeks abroad. Nevertheless, London really has eyes for one girl, Masha Tyelna. The brunette alien baby has walked in a slew of major shows, snagging some key spots: opening and closing Louise Goldin, opening Emma Cook and Ann-Sofie Back, and leading the Basso & Brooke collection (sporting an oversize cracked egg on her head, no less). Expect to see much more of her in Milan and Paris — clearly designers are having a tough time shaking her look. —Kendall Herbst

MASHA TYELNA
Birthday: December 28, 1990
Hometown: Kharkiv, Ukraine
Agency: Women
Every season has its otherworldly creature, and this time it’s Tyelna; with her enormous eyes, she sometimes resembles a beautiful alien. When Italian Vogue shot her for its July issue (along with Agyness Deyn, Sasha Pivovarova, and Tasha Tilberg), her slightly spooky blue eyes were the focus of every shot. Tyelna walked for Prada, Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton, Nina Ricci, DKNY, Vera Wang, Jil Sander, Chloé, and Marc by Marc Jacobs (above) this spring. And at Marc Jacobs’s spectacle, she closed—or opened, in his flipped-around finish-to-start order—the show.
Masha Tyelna Is Today's Top Model
If models are musical instruments, in Paris Masha Tyelna is the cowbell — 'cause designers just want more (zing!). The girl’s already opened A.F. Vandevorst, Dior , and Balmain. Thus, she seals the first Paris win. At Dior, beautiful Chanel Iman also made some fans as the only dark-skinned icon on the catwalk. And on the scowling front, Omahyra Mota (the only model we’re a little scared of) walked in her first show of the season, Vivienne Westwood. She (yes, she is a she) continues to look, ahem, fierce. —Kendall Herbst
She should have worn them as street style.
