Melanie Laurent

^^ I love Catherine, but come on, it's not like she pulled out her jacket and flashed the public!. it was just a silly dance, the famous 'happy dance', isn't it?.
some people..
yeah, it's pretty uptight - I suppose it makes sense to say that if Melanie wants to be an ultra demure screen siren she should be restrained on the red carpet - but if she just wants to be a great actress whose personable and obviously doesn't take herself too seriously, she can dance at cannes all she likes ^_^ IMO her dance made me like her 100x more than before, and I've thought she was brilliant ever since I saw Je vais bien, ne t'en fais pas :flower:She's obviously, fun and comfortable with herself and having a laugh instead of generically posing for photographers :innocent:

^I think its these qualities that make her so interesting. She seems like she does what she actually wants to do, very genuine. That's why I love her style. Her outfit above isnt perfect, especially that necklace. But it seems like she actually wants to wear it, and shes comfortable in it. Its unassuming, quirky, and genuine.

the dance was gorgeous! so light hearted and fun.. it's so nice to see people not take themselves so seriously. i would prefer her to stand there and dance than pout like she is the hottest thing on the planet like so many other starlets do, especially the young ones. :ninja: more power to melanie... i think she was fabulous. catherine deneuve is probably just jealous. :p

Drusilla, Catherine Deneuve said the exact opposite:

"Mélanie Laurent is young. She'll learn that a certain class and self-restraint are necessary for a long carreer. Those words are from a big french actress, Catherine Deneuve, who watched the scene open-mouthed in front of her Tv."

That's what I meant -- I was disagreeing with Catherine. Still hearsay (that's the same blog that claims Diane said she can't stand Mélanie) but all the same I'm sure it's someone's opinion, even if not Catherine Deneuve, and that's still kind of lame.

^ Sorry I misunderstood :flower:

I agree with what you all said about "the little dance", I love her even more now ^_^

^gah, I'm such a sucker for teal.. that's by far my favorite outfit of her entire Cannes appearance, she looks tremendous..

thanks for posting, lonette!.

My favorite outfit too. The color compliments her beautifully, and I think I prefer her hair up as opposed to down lately.

I don't think the dance showed a lack of class like Catherine Denuve suggested BUT if she were to make a habit of hamming it up on the red carpet it could definitely get a little obnoxious and attention whoreish -- I think she was just having fun in the moment, good for her.

Is Catherine serious??? A little dance might affect the longevity of a film career??? Woman really needs to shut up. If she wants to dance at her own premiere of her own movie, then she can bloody well do if wants to.:angry::doh:

its only a rumour. i dont think its true.(deneuve)

mélanie will be on le grand journal tonight with tarantino and diane kruger.

Shouldn't we actually be sure she even said that before we start feeling the need to give imput about it? Personally I feel like if the person posting these things is close enough to actually hear them, they should have more discretion about posting it on the internet, but I don't expect that someone actually would refrain from doing so (assuming these things aren't completely fabricated).

Yeah, whoever's opinion that is, it's really lame. I hope le grand journal is on you tube later on so I can see it

loved that dance of quentin and melanie.

i cannot believe people took it so seriously, it was funny and goofy.
