While we're on the subject of metallic bags....

I need some help making a decision. A local boutique has some cute metallic bags and I want one gold and one silver. I already have a gold hobo but it's leather-like and I want leather.

Please excuse the terrible drawings. Hopefully you'll get the idea of the shape. The one on the left is shaped sort of like the A. Burns Faithfull bag and has a little silver ring. The strap is longer than I've drawn and it hits level with the belly button. The one on the right is much larger and is more like the Devi Kroell bag -- big, slouchy and unstructured. This one rests on the hip.

I think maybe the big hobo in the gold and the one with the ring in silver? Or is one style good enough to have it in both gold and silver? Argh, silly thing to be indecisive about, I know.

I'd get the big hobo in gold and the small in silver - just like you said :)

Hobo Bags actually have some nice metallics in their vintage collection...

PS: I can;t seem to find any prices of the bags on the hobo website :S Any idea?

They don't sell the bags directly on their web site. It seems like there should be a directory though showing what stores carry the bags. I know in Atlanta, they are commonly found at the Bill Hallman boutiques: http://www.billhallman.com - you might could try calling one of their stores and see if they can give you more pricing info. From past experience - Hobo bags seem to be in the range of $120-200.

Hope this helps! :)

Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack carry Hobo bags...

LOVE their linings! SO MUCH FUN!

Coach is also introducing metallic fabric on their bags...

But, I agree with impossibleprincess... the best style for the metallic bags is the huge/slouchy look. For some reason, I feel like the metallic fabric should look a little crinkly and worn, instead of pulled perfectly tight across the bag. B)

At first I wasn't liking the metallic bags, but I am starting to love the Skyler bag by The Sak and the hobo by Botkier.

I am in lust with not only this bag, but also the entire look... :crush:

I don't know if this is common knowledge yet, but the Balenciaga Le Dix/motorcycle/classic bags (whatever you want to call it) will be coming in metallic colors for the holidays:

Rouge (red)
Rose (pink)
Gris (pewter)
Orange

"The metallics will be nice, but are very "statement" bags....very shiny!!!!!" -- Lester Lagda, Balenciaga NYC

The NYC boutique is expecting shipments next month, so call to be put on the waiting list now!

I'll post pics when they get them...

dunno if its been posted already but BALENCIAGAs winter range is all metallic :brows:

The Devi Kroell is a HOT bag. But the ones by "Not Rational" are definately hot too. I have a pink one my friend sent me from LA it's so hot. The only problem with metallic bags is that as they age, the leather, rather than patina as Louis Vuittons do, the metallic rubs off. This happens regardless of the bag quality- I have seen it on everything from a Botkier to a bag from Forever 21. It cannot be avoided. Buyer beware......
