I saw Michèle Morgan on TV yesterday and searched for a thread dedicated to this true icon. She had it all: grace, beauty, talent, intelligence, charisma... A deep look and some of the most beautiful eyes too. In Quai des Brumes her partner and lover Jean Gabin whispers to her « T'as d'beaux yeux tu sais », you got beautiful eyes you know, and she replies « Embrasse-moi », kiss me. The way they both deliver those lines made of this moment a mythical scene of french cinema that makes me quiver everytime I see it.

Born Simone Roussel in 1920, she started her acting career at 15. The movie Quai des Brumes made a star of her but her international career didn't really took off and she came back to France. The movie La Symphonie Pastorale allowed her to win an award during the 1946 Cannes Film Festival. In 1967 she suspended her career. Since then we saw her as the President of the jury of the 1971 festival de Cannes and she published a few books. Michèle Morgan is now focusing on her painting career.
