That shoot with Jennifer Lopez, was it his intention to just plain copy Guy Bourdin's shots? Was it the point of the shoot? Or is it just a coincidence?

The Bordin reference was intentional. Bourdin was very 'hot' in 2003 because of his first major exhibit.

Does anyone know what happened to W & Michael Thomspon? His last cover was for May 2008...

His last ed was for W August 2008...I seriously miss his eds, he has been an important contributor to W's history and the lack of pieces by him in the magazine really explain its wild inconsistency this year. He can't express himself as well with short Allure pieces. Both him and Roversi should shoot more for the mag ATM.

To me they are more important than Mert and Marcus (who I love) but are overrated by some members who think they are the saving graces of W...when most of the other photographers have been there longer than them.

I wonder if him shooting for Numero now has anything to do with his W contract...since Klein seems to have become resident cover photog.

I like that he's doing eds for Numero, but I'd rather see him as W, as its one of my favourites and its a question of 12 euros or pounds over 4 euro or pound
I wonder if

This was reported at theimagist in May:

SCOOP DU JOUR: MEGA CONTRACT MACHINATIONS

Which power magazine is facing the the finish date of that mega-photographer's blue chip contract with the publication? The Hiss Squad is a tizzy at the thought of what might happen should said book fail to close a new deal soon. The creation of fashion's most valuable free agent? More room for a new generation of photographers to play ? A rethink of the nature of long term contracts? Mega drama!

Perhaps its about Michael and W?

I never thought about that...

I also thought that maybe Michael wanted to stop doing eds since Karl Templer left for Interview...his most frequent collaborations were with Joe Zee, Lori Goldstein and then Karl most recently...he only did one ed without him, his last one in August 2008.

Still I think it would be nice for him and Camilla to work together, since she has to work with the more 'arty' photogs/celebrity cover stars at the magazine most of the time and doesn't get to do full on 'power fashion' eds as it were like Alex.
