Some people are taking her quotes as 100% what they are but many who are huge fans or have seen enough interviews of hers knows that she has the tongue in cheek sarcastic bit down, as well as her protecting her privacy. This has been going on since March. Mag interviews and shoots are done well in advance so maybe it really hadnt become a full blown thing outside of friends meeting at a reunion and catching up.

Is she a liar? No, she's not giving paparazzi the acclaim in print that they want, she's protecting her private life and probably looking out for Ashton's image too since he just divorced Demi last year; no matter how long has past since them, he is being maimed as the cheating douche. "once a cheater, always a cheater" isnt always true, and who knows if he really even did cheat on Demi. There is a lot we don't know.

Once again, just because they say their not dating, doesn't mean they aren't. She is a very private person, she would probably deny it anyway, and also to add that glamour interview was probably done a month or two ago, so even if they were friends before, it seems their relationship has definetly blossemed into something more.
