“I was inspired by an urban warrior with a clean, no-fuss undercurrent,” said Michelle Smith while pointing to a chic monochromatic black midi skirt and coat that illustrated her desire for a more “cleaned-up look.” The result was fewer prints than usual: a painterly black-and-white pant and a graffiti miniskirt.
Instead the designer focused on sculpted cuts in several dresses and skirts, while keeping the palette neutral with some pops of cobalt blue. Her urban warrior was most evident in the outerwear, such as a fitted black coat featuring a colorful tweed and fringe pattern at the hem, and a boxy white coat with an arty embroidered face and fringe on the back.
