Meet Milou

MILOU VAN GROESEN is the model to know. The Dutch beauty opened the spring/summer 2011 Balenciaga show, fending off stiff competition from Amber Valetta and Gisele who also walked for the label. And she's been talk of the fashion town ever since.
The 22-year-old blonde had previously starred in high street campaigns, for H&M and Diesel, before her agent decided to take her in a new, high end direction.
"She represents a new cool," says her agent Radouane el Ouardi of A MODELS AMSTERDAM. "How she looks on the catwalk is really how she looks in real life. I think the fact she is 22 is an asset too - whatever job she gets today she can do. She is at an age where she can handle the stress of it all. Girls of 16 or 17 aren't in a position to do that."
Van Groesen couldn't believe it when she was scouted on the streets of Amsterdam two years ago.
"I was really observing her and trying to take in her look when she was noticed and thought I was making fun of her," says el Ouardi. "She was wearing these red skinny jeans and she thought I was just joking. Eventually she understood. As for the future, we're being very picky - we're focusing on the long term here."
With several high-profile options in the pipeline, van Groesen has well and truly arrived.
