CUSHNIE ET OCHS S/S 12 CAMPAIGN FIRST LOOK
A models.com exclusive first look: Cushnie et Ochs S/S 12 Campaign
Since the debut of their eponymous label, Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs’ have carefully honed a look that could be described as tough girl with a heart of gold. Dark colors and sharp silhouettes feature regularly, but they are underscored by refined tailoring and a wry sense of humor that sneaks into every collection. Spring saw the duo entering softer territory: citing Mad Men’s shotgun wielding housewife Betty Draper as an influence, while crafting a sleek series of body conscious dresses that proved you can show a little sweetness while maintaining edge. You can’t help but stare at the Cushnie et Ochs girl, but you know better than to mess with her.

It is fitting then that the brand’s S/S 12 imagery veers towards danger. Launching exclusively in MDX, the campaign features a pompadoured Milou van Groesen posing up a storm as flames rise from beneath her. Photographer Hugh Lippe and stylist Keegan Singh create a starkly beautiful showcase for the line’s candy colored sheaths and geometric detailing, while Milou is the proverbial girl who played with fire. The images are simple, striking and all about the mood created by those incredible dresses; take your first look at Cushnie et Ochs S/S 12 only in MDX.

^ Stunning  :woot: I am really glad she scored Giorgio Armani this season ^_^

Great to see Milou in such a big campaign.

I love how you don't get to see her on the runways and hype publications so often yet she has always been racking up very good money and prestige bookings for quite a few seasons. I really like the DNA/Viva "business model", it seems to work for many of their girls.

She's perfect for Giorgio Armani! A wonderful campaign and she deserves it!

^I agree. I never paid that much attention to her but she has won me over completely with that campaign. I went through her entire thread after seeing her in the Armani campaign and now I'm surprised she isn't in the Models.Com Top 50 and doesn't get more recognized for her work, she's GREAT!!

Finally!!!
I just love those Armani shots...

Glad to see this cool girl scored Balenciaga and Giorgio Armani.

Her presence in Chanel was quite impressive!!! Hope she will walk more for the brand. :flower:

Pity that the Balenciaga clothes are pretty horrid but she looks stunning for Giorgio Armani!

Model Call: Milou van Groesen
By TAYLOR HARRIS

For the spring 2012 collections, Milou van Groesen landed on some of the most sought-after runways in the biz: Thakoon, Jason Wu and Narciso Rodriguez, to name a few. And for that, she says she has Nicolas Ghesquière to thank. He gave the 23-year-old Dutch model her first big break when he cast her for his fall 2011 Balenciaga show. After that, the rest of the majors followed suit. Her most recent coup? The Giorgio Armani spring 2012 campaign, which just hit magazines last week. Here, a quick chat on how it all happened.

Was modeling something you had always wanted to do?
Not at all. I started three years ago, two weeks before my 20th birthday. I didn’t have school or a job when I got scouted, but I was still hesitant. I was like, yes, no, yes, no. But I needed a job, so I did it.

Where were you scouted?
My mother agency, A Models Amsterdam, found me in a tram station in Amsterdam. I was with a friend, and I saw this couple looking at me. I was like, “Why are they staring?” I was wearing red pants and I thought that was why. But then they came over and were so nice and gave me their card. They turned out to be awesome people, so I was like, “Let’s do it.”

You signed with DNA in New York last year. Did you start doing shows right away?
The first two seasons I was here, I didn’t really do the shows. Then last year, I was in Milan for a job and my agency called and said, ‘There’s a casting for Balenciaga and we think you’re perfect for it.’ I said, ‘I already tried doing the shows twice. It’s not really working.’ But I went and got the exclusive.

Did that change things?
Everything was different after that. Before, it was a fun thing to do — now it’s like a real job. I have choices now. I like that part.

How did you find out you landed Balenciaga?
I went to the casting, and it took like four or five hours because they had me try on everything. Then they asked, “Can we cut your hair off?” So I knew I had it.
