Rochas;4505279]Aren't the models under contract though? How can they just leave???

it has happened in the past when top girl/s followed their agent to another agency.

EXPECTING THE UNEXPECTED

Submitted by Wayne on Mon, 2008-05-19 17:47.I have to say, nobody in the modeling industry of New York behaved in a predictable way last week. Or have they? From the blood bath (or bloodletting depending on how you care to look at it) at DNA and Women to the delightfully un-corporate IMG agency image in the new V magazine, nothing is quite the way it was . But that's good for fashion and the modeling industry, because despite its efforts that business remains bound by fashion's tendency to change...abruptly, randomly with maximum cruelty . A hundred question abound in the wake of this shift... What does this mean for the girls? What does this mean for clients ? For mother agencies?
Well the more things change... the more you change with them. There was a meeting this morning at MDC and the big decision was to get the POV of all the parties in involve and post a full-on piece of journalistic writing as to the powerful implications of that shift. Tomorrow I pop over for the first time since the shift to the Women/Supreme offices and it will be interesting to observe this new power-pairing of Rowland+ Chabon

The second realization we faced was that MDC was no longer a New York based entity but now had to behave as a global company, opening its primary editorial platform to agencies in South America, Europe, Eastern Europe, Russia and Asia. There was a time when NY (because of the revenue flowing through that market) ruled as model career destination No 1. In between the visa blockade, the weak dollar and a feared recession that is no longer the case. We are clearly living in a time of "adapt or die". In all of this the irony of the IMG quote in their V profile looms ironically . "United We stand. Divided we fall.We are a committed and unified group of managers" . Must have been a premonition. Stay tuned for the MDX report!

^ well Louie Chabon has moved to Women (i think other sources say he became CEO) and it seems that Women/Supreme have merged :flower:. but it says nothing about what models he took with him etc etc. and mdc are going to do a big report on it and other changes.

Thank you Camilla  Wow! Women + Supreme would make a huge agency, I hope we'll get to see the changes soon :)

^Women/Supreme have had offices in the same building though for a long time I think. I don't think they're merging.

Women and Supreme have not 'merged.' They were both started by Paul Rowland and share the same office, but both act as completely separate agencies. Absolutely not true.

I want to know where Chris Gay is going. That's the missing piece to the puzzle! lol

I really hope women and supreme do not merge. Supreme is THE supreme agency, and merging with women would destroy the "look" that Supreme is known for, and the girls. The grunge of the model elite, and that would destroy all of Paul's work..

Yes the models are under contract but that doesnt mean that the contract cant be bought out or just completely disregarded. Im eager to see just who will be willing to risk going against contractual obligations they have to the AGENCY all in the cause of staying with a BOOKER. Understandably the booker is a models lifeline, so Im sure it will be some interesting decision making.

Im also intrigued if Louis merging with Paul will somehow spark some new trend, aesthetic, or change of direction in how the agency is managed, and what sort of girls they will embrace in the future.

Also I just noticed, the day that Louis left DNA and joined WOMEN Ali was moved from DNA's New Faces to the main board. Was he by any chance her agent?

uh huh. if i were the models i'd be stupid to sever my ties with the agent with the midas touch. unless, she's confident to be without him. in cases like this, it's rare if not at all ever happens with the latter.

indeed, this is a pair to watch, though.

true Paul is the owner of Women/Supreme ...
but if the rumors are true, Louis becomes CEO , it's either ...
Paul's title becomes Founder/Chairman, Louie - President or
Louie became part owner which gives him the title of CEO as rumored.
just a thought.
