This is the second designer that I really like from the FF show. Yes, it is all one colour but it's so simple and elegant:

Sure, that vinyl evening gown (or whatever it is) is pretty terrible, but I just love some of the other stuff ... some of this has the elegance of Lanvin, plus some edge, while never venturing anywhere near Gucci territory ...
Some of the details are so good ...
Andrew Jones is scruffy, softly spoken and from Newcastle. Abdul Koroma is statuesque, strident and from Sierra Leone. Yet, despite their different backgrounds, the pair behind Modernist share the same design point of view.
“We call it gentle subversion. Our clothes are quite streamlined, but they have all these craft flourishes,” explains Jones, holding a dress with delicate straps based on the hem stitching found on old-fashioned tablecloths.
Jones and Koroma met in Italy while working for a major label, but, after four years as fashion’s backroom boys, they decided to launch Modernist. “We got frustrated. There were too many rules. Now we make all the decisions,” says Koroma. Their aim, they say, is to “speak to an international woman”, with highly sophisticated clothes inspired by traditional workwear and, strange though it sounds, the good old British housewife. Dresses hang from dungaree straps, apron details inform skirts and a deliberately dishevelled trench looks as comfortable as a housecoat. Modernist, says Jones, “is sexy and feminine, and usually those don’t go together”.
