So true. You cannot build a brand on an item...it has to be built on a personality and POV that allows you to explore many different facets of design, many different moods and inspirations, while maintaining your, idiosyncratic stamp...it’s what set the big designers of the past two/three decades apart...Galliano, McQueen, Karl, Marc, etc...they all did a million different things and went through many “phases” of their career. She has such a strong signature and now she is facing the same problem as lots of designers. She is exploring more besides her iconic tulle / puffy dresses, I think it's hard because that's her stuff. What if it's gone or translate into something else that her costumers don't like ? Will the costumers understand / follow, or will she stuck in that and eventually, her costumers feel bored. It's quite hard but I hope she finds it.

Ms. Goddard cannot build a business on a tulle dress. It’s like how Altuzarra thought he could build a brand off of a slit skirt. Ain’t gonna happen....
if you've ever watched killing eve (which you should!) does eve wear a better, more memorable, outfit than the pink molly goddard dress? perhaps, it's arguable; the fashion on that show is AMAZING!! but the goddard outfit is so striking, so forthright and so romantic, that it's unforgettable.
