Monique Lhuillier Fall 2005 RTW NYC

I've liked some of her previous collections, but there is nothing new or defining here, in my opinion.

hmm...

Great collection...this reminds me of a Missoni dress, though - the design, not the print, but there was a Missoni dress very similar to it. :)

great collection of rip-offs. That sort of double waist line is very prada and many shapes are very lanvin. And alot of de la renta and missoni knockoffs as well. not a very original collection.

agreed meg - lets copy elbaz. its so old - how could a young person wear there outfits?

So true, but nevertheless, I still like it all :flower:

Meg is absolutely right, this is a knock off collection.

But do we know for sure that those silhouettes were originated by those designers? I dont know, but I am willing to bet that they were not the inventors of those shapes, we may have to go back even further in time.
Realistically it is hard to invent a whole new silhouette. I am fiercly against direct copying however.

As I've mentioned in another thread, almost every single item we see on the catwalks today have been copied from somewhere else. Both Prada and Lanvin has copied styles designed decades ago..

I don't really care, the collection is beautiful.

Monique Lhullier is probably one of the most boring designers. Her stuff don't even have personnality. It's sad to look at her stuff.

^^agreed...boring...not even enough personality to dislike...just nothing...
and sooo-elbaz/oscar...blech!

OMG - it's amazing. I love the jewelry the models are wearing, and the black lacy dresses are up my alley.
