Liliana Casabal, founder and designer of Morgane Le Fay, hasn’t done a runway show in quite a few years, but this season she returned to New York Fashion Week. Asked why she decide to show again, Casabel said she “has the extra energy, and this season she has a dream team,” meaning her design team. Casabal, who recently opened a new SoHo store, is also looking to wholesale the collection in the near future, hence the fashion-week appearance.

The show was held in a photo studio with views of the skyline and the sunset — a fitting backdrop for Casabal’s innovative lineup. Inspired by the Austrian poet Rainer Maria Rilke and his poem “Everything is Blooming,” as well as by Big Sur, Calif., Casabal expressed her connection with nature through the purity of her design. Her delicate craftsmanship took center stage as effortless, origamilike dresses done in airy chiffon and organza — mostly in white, black and dark gray, with a few in teal and plum — seemed to float down the runway, notable for their interesting draping, romantic asymmetrical layers and sculptural ruffles.
