Mugler F/W 2021.22 Paris

Are there ever too many cut-outs for this person?

Just tacky, this type of fashion says nothing to me. Showing too much skin, only makes it clear that the person is attention-starved...mistery is sexier!

Ok, you win.

This needs to be seen in motion to be fully appreciated. The models look fierce and… juicy? It’s an unflinching salute to curviness that is so well executed. The Mugler retrospective in Paris is testament to how fitting this new chapter is. Cadwallader’s interpretation of the house codes does not really on pastiche; it is brutally, wonderfully upfront and current. And also wry.

It takes a lot of skill to cut [-out] these kind of clothes. Above all, this feels exciting. And relevant. Also this has to be the best soundtrack ever. This is just so effing HOT. Lidia Judickaite’s derrière is just out of this world. Legendary, in the truest sense.

That video is so well done! Super fun and I think it works for mugler. Also I’m seeing people wearing the jeans on the street. Something must be right there.

Superb, superb collection. The video is flawless, with just a little more tailoring I really think Mugler could be FINALLY ushering in a new, successful era.

I loved the motion presentation it was fresh, some of the clothes look nice others too many cut outs.

I fail to see any semblance of freshness or high design. I guess it's meant to be very dated and skank— like the kind of fashion you’d see in a Jodeci/R. Kelly/Mary J. Blige video in the 90s.

I don't even mind that someone goes for tasteless, it can be fun.. it's how incredibly cheap it looks what makes it unforgivable, it seriously looks like something you'd find at whatever's left of Forever 21 when the dress code is sl*tty but you also have 23 dlls left in your account. Gold chains in next-to-nothing tacky getups have been done before and as proved by Stella, it can so easily look inexplicably good so.. how bad do you have to be to have such a simple recipe, plus the universally safe black + leather combo, and still f*ck it up haha..

I also don't care what any woman claims: no one dreams of looking this flabby, come on, build things better! what's up with that boob in the video..?! I can even see the rib BEHIND the boob and I've never seen that in my life.. I'm sure that model went to bed like 'how could this be me?'.. they did you dirty, girl!

^^^ That’s expecting too much: This label has come to represent what the popjustice zoomers idealize as fashion. Beyond it just looking old hat cheap, there’s not a single design or concept that doesn’t look like it’s ripped off from somewhere else that’s not already been done to death. It’s just pandering and baiting to dress basics like Cardi B and Lil Nas X.

You know, Thierry was never a designer I was interested in; not his designs nor his sensibility (… and the menswear was gaudy as all hell). But I did appreciate how at his best, he always interpreted the camp and kitsch of the drag club costumes as expensive, elaborate, and even couture-y pop art designs, at a time when drag wasn’t mainstream. And that was fun and risqué. This version just goes nowhere other than baiting to be pulled for V Magazine to dress the current herd of basic pop tarts— and probably introduce the kidz to Mugler’s fragrance line.

The problem with Mugler is that it’s a kind of very « dated » vision of fashion that worked in the context of that time, that can look modern or evocative when worn today but that doesn’t really have a reason to exist today.

It’s like Claude Montana. It was fabulous at it peak but it would be ridiculous to have it today.

Mugler was a real individual, his vision of fashion and beauty was very personal (la bourgeoise dominatrice). Only him can do him. When he dresses Kim or Cardi B, it makes sense. They are like creatures…

Mugler, unlike Gaultier didn’t have the opportunity to « embourgeoiser » his fashion. Gaultier went from the enfant terrible to a more classic, bourgeois vision of fashion. Mugler wasn’t trendy anymore long before stopping fashion. So it’s fashion is frozen at a certain time.

So, I feel like everybody that takes over Mugler kind of do whatever they can with what they have to be honest.

One thing is sure, this woman is not a dominatrix bourgeoise but Amber looks amazing.

^^^ You could style Amber in Demna’s Balenciaga and she would look just the same I’d say even better since the huge trench shoulders, baggy leathers and stiletto stockings are so heavily associated with Demands Balenciaga nowadays.

Dears, you could dress Amber Valetta with the vilest of garbage bags out there...and she would make it look like haute couture!
