Mugler S/S 2025 Paris

This reminds me of Formichetti's Mugler tenure more than Cadwallader's. Great to see some actual tailoring (and will say it is done pretty well) but it all looks so 2009...

Because Mugler in its original form was so of its time back when Thierry was really killing it, conceptually; the house code remains within that time, for me. Every time they try to capture some of that, it feels dated. I think there's a way to marry the new with the former, to update and keep it fresh but the house has struggled to do that.

I never feel excited or wow'ed when, if there ever was a house that had a wealth of concepts to draw influence from; it would be Mugler. They haven't gotten the CD right the number of times they've tried. Im just glad I don't have to see those damn body suits again this season, so every cloud has its silver lining.

Just fyi for anyone interested, their new documentary Mugler: Inside the Dream is up on Prime now. Quite an interesting look inside the house covering both Thierry and Casey's work there, the fragrances, collection development, Zendaya's robot suit moment etc.

I liked this collection but I like his usual stuff more. I like his theatrics and I miss some of the sharpness and the boldness here.
