Another article - the one describing the Phoebe as Mulberry's next SURE thing

The hot hold-alls

The Observer.
CHLOE PADDINGTON BAG
Around pounds 750

Sold out every- where, yet Colleen McLoughlin managed to get two. The waiting list at Harvey Nichols for the oblong 'antiqued' leather bag, is full.

HERMES KELLY BAG

From pounds 2,630

Named after Princess Grace of Monaco, the more elaborate models, some of which are made from ostrich leather, cost pounds 7,000.

CHRISTIAN DIOR FLIGHT BAG

From pounds 1,005. This brown sheepskin Dior bag is likely to be one of the most copied bags of the season. It's advertised by Kate Moss and there's just one in the country - in the window of the Sloane Street store. It's not for sale, but you can add your name to their 'fairly long' waiting list.

MULBERRY PHOEBE BAG

From pounds 595.

Following the Roxanne, the Phoebe, below, is Mulberry's next sure thing. It's a saddle-bag style with bronze coloured buckle pockets.

BOTTEGA VENETA JARDIN

DeCALeE BAG

From pounds 3,465.

The hefty price tag has not put fashionistas off this rectangular black leather handbag, which has a waiting list at both its London stores. It is covered in hand-cut black flowers made from plaited kangaroo leather.

From the Marian Keyes website www.mariankeyes.com
Excerpt from the July newsletter "Wpndering what happened to Marian in July"

"Repaired to Bond Street, to the Mulberry Shop to buy present for my editor at Penguin, the very fabulous Louise Moore. Entre nous, even though I consider myself a bag expert, a bag fanatic even, Mulberry hadn't really shown up on my radar. Then I read a thing in the Sunday Time's Style section and realised my terrible, terrible gaff. Mulberry is le dernier cri, le cat's pyjamas, les knees des bees. In the shop I browsed, looking for a bag that shouted LOUISE MOORE, but I was out of my depth, then a lovely girl (Joanna) came to help me and I said, “I want to buy a present for a friend. She's very… fashion forward.” Then I thought, Christ! I can't believe I just said that! Fashion forward! But Joanna had broken into a run and reappeared with a bag: the Phoebe. The hottest bag on the planet (apart from maybe a Fendi one.) ‘Excellent,' I said, ‘Excellent, great, excellent. I'll take it.' "

I don't think the 'Ayler' is out yet, the collection mentioned in the u.s. vogue piece was cruise, which i guess won't be in store til about October? . . .

Wonderful, that works out perfectly. I feared the collection featuring Ayler had already come and gone.

I'm going to have to flip through my old Bazaars and Elle's to see the Pheobe, now that I think of it I recall it in September's Elle. Its also in falls Saks Fifth Avenue ads. I think the picture is actually of women snatching up bags in a mini frenzy.

Thanks so much for the articles TaiTai and Holly!

haven't seen the phoebe but now i'm intruiged...
i actualy quite like the rockley... it's really cute, would love it in chocolate or oak...

ehh i dont like the phoebe.. dont see whats so great about it..
whats a rockley? i cant find a pic on mulberry's website

the kim jones bags finally arrived and i saw an overnight holdall- simple side pocket with a groove along length of the bag to keep a jacket (can't find a pic anywhere). anyway, its it darwin oak- but i was warned it wasn't waterproof and would get darker which worries me- any advice on how it'll age and how you protect your bags will be greatly received....

does anyone own a Mulberry Keira? I'm kicking myself for not buying one and am now trawling ebay every day for one.
just wondered if any of you bag ladies has one and can either post pics or reviews of it? also, what season was it from?

thanks xxxx

My friend has a used and abused Mulberry hold all. It was originally medium brown but has turned darker and actually looks better. I think generally Mulberry leather darkens somewhat evenly. Her bag had some water marks but even those kind of faded over time.

Has anyone seen the metallic (gunmetal color) Baywater bag (looks sort of like a Hermes bag)? What do you think in general about the metallic Mulberrys?

The Mulberry article in the August 05 Vogue.

Anyone have photos of their bag? I'd love to see all the different styles all you stylish folk have. I'll post a couple pics of mine later :)

yeah, i second this - i'm still looking for a Keira bag and would love it if someone posted pics.
there arent any photos of them remaining anywhere, it seems - even google image search only has one stock photo :(

A couple photos of my Pheobe, try to ignore my messy dresser ;) The flash makes it look a bit lighter than it actually is.

gorrrrrgeous Luxx!!!
whats the red one beside Phoebe? (how can you not call Mulberry bags by their names directly?!)

Thanks clickmekate! The red bag next to the Pheobe (I love their names, they're all so cute and oh so British) is my Chloe Paddington. They were both sitting on the dresser so it snuck into the photo.

wow, you know i never really liked the Paddington, but i've never seen it in that colour and it really is nice!
reminds me of the old school marc jacobs colour "bordeaux"...
you have great bag taste, girl!

hope someone posts a keira ;)

It is an interesting color, its not as light as it looks in the photo though a bit darker and more wine toned. I love it though, its proven quite versatile.

I'd love to see all the various shades of Roxannes. I saw a girl the other day wearing a green one in a resturant and we had a little Mulberry moment. It was quite surprising since I haven't seen many people wearing Mulberry in the city let alone on Long Island. Most folk here are all about the LV, Gucci or the more conservative styles like Tod's.

Luxx - your Pheobe is beautiful!! :woot:

I'm in Australia and I would like to get a Roxanne and a Pheobe by purchasing from the US. Where would you suggest is the best place to order one from? I was going to email Barneys and Saks - any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. :flower:

I bought my Roxanne from the Mulberry online shop but they are now out of stock for all colours :( and I have no idea how long the waitlist is.

Net-a-Porter have them in chocolate, apple green and pink.

Both stores deliver internationally - which is great since I live in New Zealand!!!

Have no idea where to get a Phoebe from!!! which by the way Luxx, yours looks absolutely gorgeous!!!!!

You probably better of order your bag from NAP because you would get 15% off VAT but still you have to add our taxes & duties here in Australia which is around 20 % of you purchase price excl. shipping cost.

Also you may want to try Cactusjam International (Melbourne) (03)9819 0348 or Scanlan & Theodore (Sydney) (02)9361 6722 (Melbourne) (03)9650 6195. They have some Mulberry bags.

Aww! You guys are so sweet!

I would try Barney's in NYC for the Pheobe and Roxanne. Last I went there they had both bags in a variety of colors, I actually purchased my Pheobe at Barney's and the salespeople are lovely, very helpful. Saks might be able to get it for you as well but I would try Barney's first as I am certain they have both bags and in several colors. I am sure the NY store would ship it to you.
