Naima Mora

I thought Naima's personality always seemed fake and unreal, like she wasn't really letting her true self show.

I found this on another forum before she had won. Maybe this will explain why she is so guarded. This was posted on a different forum May 10, 2005, 8 days before Naima won ANTM.

"Maybe you've all noticed that Niama is a little guarded. Hopefully the show will back off her, because it's her right to not wh*re out sympathy and drama for the viewers.
Back in the day in high school Naima and her twinsister Nia, they're mother was a crazy *** mother f%#*&^% crack head, who had no idea of the time of day let alone remember "oh, I should probably go home- I have kids" and her dad was this reall good DJ and Jazz percussionist, he used to work with carl creig the DJ, never around, he was usually in Europe. So often the girls were left alone living in a really poor neighborhood in Detroit, with no food (most the time) no money (all the time) and no love. Niama was a party girl, and Nia was more of the quiet one back then.
I dont know if you guys can still remember this, but there was this one episode when Tyra jokingly asked Naima if there was somebody crazy in her family and Naima just answered "no comment". Her past brings back so much pain."

her profile on ford has no information. they arent even trying to sell her as a model, they should just through her in the celebrity section.

I think that Naima has a nice look in motion (e.g. moving camera like on TV) but in photographs she always tends to look the same.

Its ashame that Kahlen, Tatiana, Tiffany or Brittany (if she could stop looking so skanky!) didn't win since these four girls had real potential.

I actually liked Tatiana a lot... even though she was only 5'7" I think she had the right proportions (meaning long legs, short waist and long arms) to get away with it.

Oh well... maybe on this upcoming cycle Tyra and Co. can get a model with a high fashion look AND a good personality.

I hope you dont take this the wrong way cause I'm not trying to be mean or anything...Kahlen, Tatiana and Tiffany have not even gotten signed by an agency yet. Lluvy, Brita, Rebecca and Keenyah have gotten signed by good agencies. I do agree however, that Brittany has tons of potential.

I know somebody who photographs for the children and teen division of Ford in Chicago and she said that its entirely up to the model whether they want to appear on the Ford site or not, and that it has nothing to do with Ford's eagerness to manage them.
Even though Eva was signed before Yaya, Yaya requested to be on the site and have her profile and measurements straight away. Same thing happened with Brita and Naima. Brita requested for her profile and measurements to be put up. You also have to pay out of your own pocket if you want to add extra pictures.

Naima Mora, the Detroit native who won UPN's "America's Next Top Model," will be a runway model and have an appearance at Fash Bash on Aug. 27 at the GM Wintergarten in the Renaissance Center.
CARLOS MIELE Brazilian designer whose clothing will be featured at the Fash Bash runway show.

Is he boho, as is the rage? Oh, no. Although he includes ethnic touches in his designs, Miele makes clothes that have more grace and elegant sweep than those '70s throwbacks.
"The clothes are very sexy in a sophisticated way. It's not overt," says Cheryl Hall Lindsay of the Somerset Collection's Saks Fifth Avenue, the fashion sponsor of the event. "They celebrate the female form without being too revealing."

At Fash Bash, which is put on by the DIA's Founders Junior Council, you'll see Miele's fall 2005 collection and a sneak preview of his spring 2006 resort collection. That means Detroit will get a peek at some of the resort wear several weeks before it hits the New York shows. Take that, Big Apple!

Celebrity makeup artist Scott Barnes will work his magic on Mora and the Fash Bash models for the show. Barnes, who graduated from the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit, has worked on some of the finest faces in Hollywood, from Gwyneth Paltrow to Jennifer Lopez, Kate Hudson and Lucy Liu, for magazine shoots in InStyle and Vanity Fare.

Naima will also be in the New York Fashion Week on September...

here's an interview with Naima:

WHAT'S UP WITH NAIMA?
"I've been living out of my suitcase for the last two months," says 21-year-old Naima Mora, the Detroit native and "America's Next Top Model" winner who'll star on the runway at Fash Bash. "It's crazy."

Crazy cool, that is. Since her May victory on the UPN series, Mora has been busy with photo shoots and promotional appearances. Next month, she'll model at New York's Fashion Week and appear as a teacher on the season premiere of "Veronica Mars."

But it can be a little lonely at the top. "I travel a lot, so it would be nice to have some company," she says, explaining why she's thinking of buying a pet -- a Yorkie teacup pup, to be specific. Hmm, America's next top dog?
