Naomi Preizler

Article - Model Behaviour: Is this the face of Resort?

As we run around town (and occasionally aboard yachts) for appointments this Resort season, one model keeps showing up: the gorgeous Argentinean Naomi Preizler, who snagged bookings for three lookbooks (so far): Richard Chai Love, Jenni Kayne, and the big-ticket Alexander Wang. Preizler is not a total newcomer—she walked in a few Spring ‘10 shows in Paris, and another handful in the Fall (including Givenchy and Vivienne Westwood), but something’s clicking in New York for the 19-year-old Buenos Aires native right about now. Our bet? Look for her to make a big splash on the Spring ‘11 runways here this September.

I have found this old video is a backstage with the local photographer Andy Cherniavsky. I don't like, but I think it's nice to see how she has progressed in her career. Naomi as well Martina C are two girls completely rares but they are beautiful exactly for that reason and I can't stop seeing their faces. Go Naomi she deserves more success than she is getting!

Thank you! I love Naomi and i like her street style, very effortless. Her English seems really good to me as well.

Everything about Naomi Preizler is striking — tousled, long blonde hair, thick eyebrows, head-turning personal style. Six months into her full-time modeling career, this Buenos Aires native is making a name for herself, having appeared in the resort presentations for designers such as Alexander Wang, Richard Chai, and Catherine Malandrino. Look for her editorial features in Dazed & Confused, V and Pop magazines this September, as she heads into her first New York fashion week.

Favorite designers:
"I love Margiela, YSL, and I like Balenciaga as well."

Favorite body part: "My eyebrows."

How did you get into modeling?

"I was 15 and was stopped on the street. I was very shy back then. I laughed, but I didn't take it seriously. So I started to investigate all the models and the agencies. I became very enthusiastic about it. I had to convince my parents because they wouldn't let me. I think they're not convinced yet."

If you weren't a model, what would you be?

"I'd be doing something in fashion or art, because I like to paint. I do it when I have time. I'm taking a course at the New York Academy of Art."

What do you do when you're not modeling?
"I always carry a sketchbook. When I'm in the subway, mostly I draw people reading books because they don't notice I'm drawing them. So I wear my sunglasses and all my drawings are people reading books."

What are your favorite wardrobe pieces?

"I have a lot of Alexander Wang clothes because I did their resort presentation. There's a dress with zippers on the side. It's kind of a trench, but it's a summer dress. Every time I wear it, people stop me on the street and say, 'Who made that dress?'"

What's on your iPod?
"I've been listening to a lot of Argentinean music lately. It's back to my roots. Soda Stereo and Fito Paez. I've always listened to Sixties and Eighties rock 'n' roll. I love the Smiths, the Kinks, the Beatles. I've been listening a lot to Fela [Kuti], a Nigerian musician from the Seventies. I've seen the musical [FELA!] here on Broadway. I love the music. I'm also listening to 'The Brown Bunny' and 'Dirty Dancing' soundtracks."

Is there a model that inspires you?
"When I was starting to be a model, I really liked looking to Daria Werbowy. She was really interesting. I also like Natalia Vodianova, what she has created — a whole empire. And she's short, and she's totally not the 'normal.'"

What are your modeling goals?
"As much as I can — to the end. There's not a limit."

What's your "must-have" beauty product?
"Toleriane fluid from La Roche-Posay and olive oil for the hair."

Do you have a blog? Or a Twitter account?

"I started a blog. It's thejerutofrosaluxemburgo.blogspot.com/.
"The Jerut" means "freedom" in Hebrew. And Rosa Luxemburgo was a Communist, German woman in the revolution between the First and Second World War. She was 18 and wanted to protest, and she was killed. I studied her in school and found her great."
