NOW CASTING NATALIE OGG

THE MODEL TALKS TO CR ABOUT WALKING FASHION MONTH, ESCAPING TO WYOMING, AND HER CAT ZIGGY STARDUST
BY ABRAHAM MARTINEZ
APR 26, 2018

Natalie Ogg is one-of-a-kind. After graduating high school, she briefly attended NYU before moving to LA to study biology at UC San Diego. "Being raised in a community where everyone I know goes to top-tier universities and is almost expected to end up earning six-figure salaries definitely pushed me to be a high achiever and think more critically about the world around me," Ogg tells CR. "My upbringing gave me every opportunity to figure that out."

Life, as she would find, had other plans. Ogg decided to give modeling a try and made her runway debut at Alexander Wang's last NYFW show, before walking for Prada in Milan and Alexander McQueen and Chanel in Paris. "If you told me last fall while stressing over organic chemistry that I’d be walking [these shows] in a couple months, I definitely wouldn’t have believed you," she recalls. CR sat down with Ogg to learn more about her modeling journey, her dream music festival lineup, and the crazy antics of her cat, Ziggy Stardust.

Did you always want to be a model?
I’ve always been freakishly tall, so people started asking early on if I ever thought about modeling, which put the idea in my head. The idea of modeling was kind of a fun daydream.

What was that shift into modeling like?
It was so exciting, but a big adjustment. I’m used to having a clear schedule, planning ahead, and all that goes out the window when you start modeling. I’m extremely thankful to all the people who made it happen.

What makes you happy?
Pretty much any form of interacting with nature makes me happy. And when I’m traveling, I love tracking down the best coffee shops to read a good book or chill with a friend.

Where do you go to feel the freest?
Wyoming. You step off the plane and it’s like entering an alternate reality, so much untouched land and so few people. Time slows down, and you can really be in the present moment.

Favorite way to spend your downtime?
[With] animals. I used to ride horses which I miss a lot, but I also volunteer at animal shelters and hang out with my cat when I’m back in LA. His name is Ziggy Stardust and he’s my baby.

What’s the weirdest thing he's ever done?
There’s been a lot of weird antics [like] hiding in pots in the kitchen cabinets, clawing his way out of windows, and getting caught drinking out of my roommate’s toilet to name a few.

If you could plan your own music festival, who would be in the lineup? Artists can be dead or alive.
Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, and David Bowie for sure.
