From hip-hop to photography to trend-setting styling, we talked to the four rising creatives from our Alpha Industries campaign about fashion, music, and the future of style.
Photographer and model Nathaniel Dam gets us caught up to speed on his life, work, and his distinct sense of style.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?
My parents are immigrants from Vietnam, I grew up in Los Angeles, Ca with 2 wonderful brothers and a lovely sister.
You take a lot of photos, right? When did you get your first camera?
I got my first camera when I was pretty young, probably around 10 or so. My uncle was a photographer and my dad had a small collection of cameras.
What kinds of things draw your eye when you’re taking a picture?
I don't think it's necessarily anything specific just more of the feeling in total when it's for my personal stuff. I do have this obsession with lines though.
How would you describe your sense of style?
I'm not sure, I guess I like to wear what I'm feeling that day if that makes sense.
What are some of your favorite things to wear?
I really like corduroy jackets, I have an olive green one I pretty much wear everyday. I wear black pants and white t-shirts pretty much every day too.
Do you have any style icons that have inspired you over the years?
My pops.
What does a normal day-in-the-life look like for you?
Sheesh, I don't think I've had a "normal" day in a while. New adventures everyday, though I get green tea noodles from Wild Ginger almost everyday, and I eat plain porridge from Mei Li Wah for breakfast.
What are your goals for the rest of 2016?
Pretty basic goals: be happy, healthy and smile more.
