Johal is her biological father, her parents divorced when she was a child and have had no contact for 8ish years.
Everyone else in her family had changed their name to Gill (her stepfather) except her.
She has a stepsister with the Gill surname so it makes them a united family.
People thought she had got married. Lol.

It's pronounced "Gill" like a fish gill. Hard g.
