For the past four seasons, young designer Txel Miras has been the creative force behind the women’s wear collections of Neil Barrett, the Italian label owned by the British designer of the same name. Their partnership began in 2003, when Txell completed her course at Milan’s Domus Academy and Barrett, the school’s creative director, asked her to join the team. She is now working on her fifth collection for the label.

Neil Barrett’s men’s and women’s collections are sold all over the world and are particularly successful in the USA, Europe and Japan. The firm’s casual urban style, with its meticulous pattern design and innovative materials, is the perfect match for Txell Miras’s own approach, with its emphasis on fabric and pattern research. Nowhere was this more apparent than in the latest collectio she produced for her own label, presented in February at Barcelona’s Gaudi Catwalk.

Meritxell Miras Abella (Sabadell, 1976) presented her first collection at Gaudí in September 2003. Inspired by Ingmar Bergman’s film Persona, it revealed the designer’s taste for construction and deconstruction, understated colours and a strikingly visual staging of the catwalk show. Txell Miras’s collections are currently available from multi-brand retailers in Spain, the USA, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Greece, Russia, Kuwait and Hong Kong. The designer’s short-term plans will focus on moving into new markets through her showroom in Milan, which manages the label’s international sales.

British designer Neil Barrett has based his entire career in Italy, where he worked for five years as chief designer of Gucci’s men’s wear collections and for a further four as creative director of Prada Hombre. In 1999, he began developing collections under his own label for companies like Prada and Allegri.

^Yes, those truly could be the worst jeans EVER.

Yea, the have some hideous ones on yoox right now from Neil Barret, I think he should just stay away from Denim. I bought a pair of black jeans from yoox, a million sizes too big for me...the quality is horrid. So disappointing..even if they weren't too big I'd return them. Neil's quality seems to be quite bad from what I've seen and heard.

i bought a pair of his 96hour shoes. Ilike them.

the women's wear is wonderful!
