Hi..

Does anyone have any ideas about how to network (specifically for the fashion industry) in Los Angeles?
Does being a member of the Fashion Business Inc or Gen Art really benefit you? Do you have any good experiences with those organizations?

Where else can I network with people?

I went to fashion school in LA so I know some people, but they are mostly my peers who are just as fresh in the industry as I am. I want to network with the bigwigs, go to fashion related parties n hopefully open my own clothing line soon!!

I dont live in los angeles yet (still attending school, but im planning on moving out there when im done to get into the fashion industry). I dont know of anything BIG yet, so all i can suggest is interning. Even if its a small internship and just work your way up, but keep your eye out for the BIG fashion internships for known fashion houses OR stay at the small one because the small one your at can become a biggie too (well known designers had to start small just like everyone else). Experience in the fashion industry is Key

Hope that helps.

Does Anyone work for Guess? In Los Angeles?

I was wondering if anyone works for Guess in Los Angeles the actual Corporate offices? I am looking to get a new job in Advertising for them. If anyone knows anyone or works there please contact me ASAP thank you so much

You might want to try professional networking sites like LinkedIn.com (it's the biggest of the professional networking sites, and includes all industries), pulse.plaxo.com (it's smaller than LinkedIn.com, but is growing), or Haute.Net (it's exclusive to the fashion industry). All of them have job postings, with some of the postings being exclusive to their sites. I'm a member of all 3, and they're a great way to network. All of them are free to join, and accept everyone.
