A NEW FACE AT CELINE
CELINE confirmed this afternoon that it has named Ivana Omazic as its new artistic director. "The rumours are true, but the official announcement has not yet been made," the label's London spokeswoman told us. Born in Zagred, Croatia, 32-year-old Omazic studied fashion at the European Institute of Design in Milan before landing a job with Romeo Gigli and moving onto the Prada Group a year later. Having worked on Prada Sport and Jil Sander, she landed the role of women's ready-to-wear design coordinator at Miu Miu before moving to Celine in April this year. Omazic succeeds Roberto Menichetti, who left the French house in May after a two-season reign that did not garner his best ever reviews. It is thought that Celine interviewed a variety of female designers including Isabel Toledo, Veronique Branquinho and ex-Gucci creative director Alessandra Facchinetti, for the role before picking Omazic.
