Ooo! lovely. I was just thinking of "new look" since I just watched Executive Suite this weekend. There's nothing more femme than a skirt with a 20 inch waistband and 8 foot hem is there?
I'm glad someone else feels the same way. I've never felt too comfortable wearing such a bold piece. Like you say, though, they're beautiful in appearance and photograph well, but unfortunately they're not practical for everyday use.
Oh my goodness! I was waiting for someone to start designing those. I love them to pieces and they are right up my alley. I would soooo wear them. There is a realistic way to wear them I'm sure. But I was going to have to start making my own (which I might do anyway) if they didn't get on it! Donna Karan was my fave but Peter Som is obviously mor realistic.
Ow, I love this trend, it's so pretty and girly. I'm in love with that first Donna Karan one. But like softgrey, I would feel very self-conscious in a skirt like this as well. But maybe it's time to take some risks
Prada did a collection several years ago with all the venice printed skirts and she had a lot of similar style dresses with a tulle hem peeking out at the bottom. I had a wedding to go to at the time so I got a dress making to make me a copy of the dress in a brown cotton the tulle poking out the bottom, pockets, sweatheart neckline and all. I wear it a lot STILL and always get compliments when I wear it. Glad to see that I still will!
