Waist-less S/S 07

I really like this silhouette, especially when the fabric is fluid and soft like Spike says. And since the too skinny models are banned from the catwalk in Madrid it is a style that suits also larger sizes.

the sad thing is that all the silly try too hard girls will buy these dresses and stick a cinch belt on them...thinking they are adding some 'personal style'...when really, they are ruining the line of the dress...
yes!! I agree completely!! :flower: Some people just do not understand the beauty in the cuts of the garments themselves.

The shape really does look beautiful - so fluid, streamlined... I love the 1920s references, in particular the Ralph Lauren dresses, which remind me of smoky jazz clubs... The only problem is, how to wear these without looking cute? I'm 5'6 with practically no cleavage, and I always dread the cute doll-like effect that these dresses tend to have on me. Any advice on how to counteract that? How do you think others will be wearing the shape?

I think it all depends on how you style it. If you wore it with a stiletto heel, clean hair and makeup it would certainly make the look more woman than girly.

Seems the trend may have carried over the pond....

I love this trend! I can't say I can really pinpoint a reason for me loving it, but I really do.

I like this, but I do question its mass-appeal. Its kind of like the bubble skirt - it looks great, but it definitely adds pounds....

Nay!I hope this trend won't be big,the labels here are obsessed to waistless clothes and it's a nightmare to me i tottally prefer tighter clothes,im skinny and i think this look only works on fatter people!

^ actually straight, flapper or empire lines work well mainly on skinny people..
those styles look far too 'heavy' on full figured bodytypes :D

I think it looks really good on skinny people, and this kind of shapes are difficult for fatter people to pull off.

I love this, especially when it's blatantly 1920's-looking, but you really have to be lean to wear it properly. So many of those dresses would be a nightmare with my hips. Alas, I can admire from afar.

Mmmmm....I saw this dress in gray at L&T and totally fell in love  :

Only problem with waistless, IMO, is that short people like me have to be careful. Waistless, if not done precisely right, makes me look like I'm pregnant

i like the flapper garden party look for summer, i saw that in a few stores last spring and wish it had caught on more cause it looks elegant but breezy, i like empire waists too, but this is refreshing and i love mod but the 20s should come back too

^^ OMG vainjane I love it too!. This trend pleases me simply because I feel uncomfortable with anything cinched in at the waist. I just don't like the feeling of being constricted even in the slightest bit in the waist area.

funny
i thought the super high waist...or natural waist stood out to me more than drop wasit..though i love both
like prada, proenza schouler, preen...etc.

that first donna karen derss and the first marc jacobs dress look fantastic
im starting to really like the sparkle fabric from marc jacobs

that sounds awfully alot like me..not the personal touch part..but wearing a belt to almost everything (i love belts..sigh)
i suppose im not the 'no-shape' type..i like a drop wasit..but i dont like to have no waist at all..makes me feel uncomfortable..which is ironic since this type of cut is suppose to make me feel free:ninja:
