New Zealand Designers

Hi everyone,

It looks like the conversation re: Australian designers is picking up, and I wanted to see what people had to say about the New Zealand fashion scene. Of course there's a lot of overlap with the Australian market, but it seems like there are a few emerging NZ designers making an impact.

Anyone from there want to comment?

Well Karen Walker is probably our most famous and successful designer. She's moved a long way and now shows both in New York Fashion Week and NZ Fashion Week. Also, we have Kate Sylvester (whom I LOVE) and Trelise Cooper (whom I'm not such a fan of). You should visit the New Zealand Fashion Week site for a full list of designers.

The NZ Fashion Industry has been growing rapidly lately but it's still met with economic and social limitations. The population here is small and therefore there's a much smaller market for high fashion.
