Nina Brosh

^ I wouldn't have either. I'd actually forgotten she was Eurasian until I reread this thread.

I love those! :woot: Thank you bleuFunk! :flower: Anything will do. She went straight back to the top of my favorites list when I saw some of her work the other day.

I guess she is different as far as Eurasians go, but she has those gorgeous almond eyes.

BTW, Polka Dot - where is your avatar from? It looks like Inguna, but i don't think it is. I love it, whatever it is. :flower:

Here's one of my favorites, from German Elle 12/95:

And the cover:

I'll post more soon. :D

Thanks! It's from an editorial shot by Camila Akrans. ^_^

I love the shot with the dove, but obviously they did too. Yes, please keep posting so her thread will grow bigger and bigger! :D I looked back at what I've saved and the vast majority of it has been scanned by you, so thanks again! :flower:

She never seemed to caught on, despite all my efforts. ;) Even when she was busiest, she was never that big.

What bugs me is that i know that she's much more famous in Israel, but you rarely see images from Israeli sources. :(

It's fun having a reason to post these!

Here's another favorite, from W 01/95 - shot by Irving Penn.

Yes! I enjoyed it as well. I thought Nina did quite well in her role. Just watching her face emote was mesmerizing itself. For a long time, i tried tracking down a copy of that film to no luck. :(

YES! I agree with you....about all that emotion in her face....it was dazzling....moist & real & utterly enveloping......I watched it over & over again....and like you I searched & searched for a copy of that film....in every possible country even......all those online stores.....but no luck whatsoever....NONE............It's quite sad that a piece of film.....a piece of art can get so terribly lost out there..........it's not fair at all...............

I guess I'm the newest Nina fan to frequent this thread then. Welcome to tFS lizzardqueen! :flower:

Thanks once again bleuFunk! :D:flower:

I think she should've been big. :( I guess the supers overshadowed her?

Hm...I wonder what members here from Israel can get us images.

i remember her...
she had to go to military as i recall cos women must go in army in israel... so it stopped her career... than she had her hair short and she had baby and never was that beautifull...

Thank you very much for the welcome, I'm finding all these great treasures....like Nina & Edie Sedgwick planted here at tFS...........

I think it's damn Fabulous that she's gettin new fans, I'm happy to hear it!

But yeah.....she has such an incredible & unique spirit that comes through.....and of course beautay......but I think she somehow maintained this magical feel....of floating in & out.....and leaving behind this salty, enchanting trail.......so in a way, fame didn't destroy that essence..........

But you know, In 1995, THE FACE magazine ranked her as the 79th Most Powerful Person in Fashion in their top 100 listing.

And that amazing figure of hers got her the accolade The Body of the Nineties 'in fashion circles'.

I did not know that about her having to go into the army...do you happen to know how long she went for? That's quite an interesting fact, thanks for sharing that................

Here's a short bio that seems to be the only other source of information divulging details of her life....this is the only version that is used & reused on the sites............in fact, reading about her untameable nature drew me into discovering more pictures of her all those years ago! And the fact that she was half Russian.....because I'm Russian myself, but both halves

HERE IT IS:

Nina Brosh (born November 12, 1975) is an Israeli model and actress.
Nina was born in Ramat Yishai, Israel to a Jewish Russian father and Chinese mother. She was discovered while sleeping on a park bench in Tel Aviv. At the time, she was a homeless and penniless runaway. A photographer noticed her and offered her assistance in exchange for the opportunity to take pictures of her. Weeks later, Nina's image was plastered all over the city.
Nina and her representation began looking for broader success, first going to New York, and then finally finding real success in Paris. She began to appear on runways, magazine editorials, and advertisements, working with brands such as Evian, Byblos, and Givenchy.
Some people think her tattoos have hindered her career. They are often either airbrushed out of photos or covered with makeup for runway shows. Nina has recently declared semi-retirement from modelling. She has moved back to Israel and settled into a villa in the wealthy city of Kfar Smaryahu. There, with her boyfriend Assi Salev, she has begun a family. She has also been putting energy into re-educating herself, focusing on a possible medical career.
In 1995 Nina was voted the 79th "Most Powerful Person in Fashion" by The Face magazine. In 1998 she appeared opposite Vincent Gallo in the independent movie Hollywood Salome, though rumours of links to high profile projects such as The Fifth Element and Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace have all fallen through. She is currently in semi-retirement.
