No. 21 S/S 2020 Milan

I actually really like his work. It's not groundbreaking but it's beautiful, stylish and faintly fresh...

I adore everything about this. It’s the ageless offspring of OG Helmut and Hedi’s Dior Homme and doing its own thing.

The dowdy matronly floral prints cut in part soft-flowing lightness, then strategically slashed in just the right place for that touch of hard graphic design to show off a part of the body. Then a dusting of glitter that morphs into those Helmut-slashed deconstructed blouses and dresses with the overlong, untied neckties that look like trains. And the elasticized basketball/board shorts that really shouldn’t work, but looks so lush in their monochromatic silhouettes (especially when paired with the tailored organza tuxedo jacket). And all the menswear that will effortlessly look as great on the women. And everything looks timeless, void of gimmicks, and so unfussy but so sharply-tailored— that you can just slip on in a moment’s notice and look amazing.

(The details of some raw edges alongside razor-sharp tailored slashes are simply and wonderfully executed. Never overpowering not distracting. There’s lovely perversion about it all.)

His sharpest collection in recent times. While I find the idea of showing the arm hole like that a bit unfortunate visually, it’s a very coherent and well balanced collection. And it’s good to see him back with a minimal styling... He tried to hard to twist his styling in past collections when his work didn’t need that.

And the fact that his prices are not outrageous makes me happy because I’ll surely buy some of those pieces.

I think that the all black look with the turtleneck and the short is super chic and fresh!

I hope his Rochas collection will be as good.
