Interesting how by-the-book styling can generate off-the-charts editorials. Nothing here suggests overthought, overreached, overdone. Yet, the thought, the reach, the deed, are outstanding. Which goes to show how clever these people are. The cover and the cover story toy with the fundamentals of cosplay, apparently on purpose, which I find adorably self-deprecating and meta. Also, very sexy issue. Not overtly, not even when it should be. It's not about separate editorials. It's about the sum of the parts, and the fact that the whole is greater than that sum.
