I don't think it's racism as much as it is cheapness and sloppiness.

I can imagine that makeup artists are prepared for the medium-brown and light brown girls since many of the black models working today fall within that range. Models of Nykhor's wonderfully deep hue are still a minority within a minority.

I can imagine certain makeup artists just not wanting to be bothered with making the purchases necessary to accommodate and work with these darker girls, given that they're still such a rarity on runways.

Anyway, regardless of the reason, it is completely unforgivable and unforgivably tacky. A black model shouldn't have to do her own makeup at a major show in this day and age.

South Sudanese model Nykhor Paul recently gave props to one of the many cosmetics companies that stocks products that work for women with her skin tone.
The message comes weeks after Paul posted a beautifully eloquent call-out of the fashion industry’s lack of accommodation for women with her skin tone, to Instagram.

“Why do I have to bring my own makeup to a professional show when all the other white girls don’t have to do anything but show up wtf! Don’t try to make me feel bad because I am blue black its 2015 go to Mac, Bobbi Brown, Makeup forever, Iman cosmetic, black opal, even Lancôme and Clinique carried them plus so much more,” she wrote.
