Orlando Bloom

what is the big deal with this guy? he's a less talented, less attractive johnny depp wannabe.
well, I may question why you would come into his thread to complain about him
I see by your post count you are new to tFS so I will explain to you that this is discourteous to his thread if you have nothing to offer by way of pictures or info or an actual assessment of his style and are merely here to diss.
Its a waste of space :innocent:

^ people with talent and redeeming qualities? lol.

You can trot around the question all you like, but I offer you the chance to have guts, tell me, any young male actor, preferably around Orlando's age, who is full of talent, and redeeming qualities then ??? B/c i would like to see what you have in mind, Since you are obviously comparing Orlando to his PEERS, b/c it would be quite unfair to do otherwise.

^ i don't really have a complaint with him.. i was just wondering if someone could explain his appeal to me so i could perhaps like him a bit more but all i got was a bunch of "you can't change my mind... etc" when that was never my initial intention. i will admit that i was somewhat rude. my apologies. :)

No Problem, just to let you know b/c you are new, if you think one of your posts might be on the tiny ittiest bittiest minutest bit of rude, it will be taken as QUITE rude, by allot of ppl, don't ask why, i wish i knew to, but here is to answer your question, i like Orlando bloom.....god, feels like im writing an essay.....anyway, i like him b/c, first of all, lets talk about what we SEE, i have never seen anybody who looks quite like Orlando, that interests me, plus he is physically my kinda guy, i like guys who are tall, slim, but have muscles, brown hair and eyes, so as you can see, Orlando fits my mold perfectly, plus i also like guys who have a few flaws, he has a lazy eye, and he has broken his nose so many times, it is slightly bent to one side, which i find absolutely adorable, but that is just me. And im not someone who is in to the conventional hot guy, guy's who are usually American, blonde hair blue eyes, buff, hunky, not for me, and Orlando wasn't really any of those things, i found him different than anybody in Hollywood, and also you have to understand, i became a fan when he was still about 23 and sporting a Mohawk, lol, so he wasn't affected by this Hollywood thing, he was just a funky kid, so then i became a fan, then i saw more of his movies, started to fall even further, and this is why i like Orlando as an actor. I rate actors on how they affect me on screen, when i see you up there, i don't want to see YOU, i want to see the CHARACTER, and Orlando always does it for me, in every film, I never see HIM I see the character, and that is all what acting is about, to make the person who is watching completely forget who you really are. And I find that Orlando does that exceptionally well. And I understand that other ppl don't like him, COMPLETLY UNDERSTAND, just how I don't like tom cruise, he just doesn't pull me in when he is on screen, and he erks me, lol, but some ppl think he is GOD, and some ppl love ashton kutcher, and ppl like that, they just don't work for me, just like Orlando might not work for you, but I don't go into ashton kutcher and tom cruise threads and say why I don't like them and what not, so there, conclusion of my essay, do I pass :D

atleast johnny, albeit in sh*tty movies @ the beginning of his career, had/has talent. orlando has no talent. he is a pretty boy who will be stuck making period films for the rest of his d-list movie career, imo.

and gretchen, i wasn't trying to change your mind, i was simply giving my opinion on orlando bloom. my fault for not being a psycho fangirl. continue on... :)

I think you better know an actor first before you go and critise them. Have you seen Haven? Have you seen the Calcium Kid, Ned Kelly and the highly anticipated Elizabethtown which will be released in October.....

Orlando has a lot of potential and talent, and Johnny as respectful as he is now was not always the highly anticipated actor of his generation. I remember, as well as Brad pitt being caterogised(sp?) as pretty boys.

In time Orlando's acting will improve....actually scrap that. He HAS improved greatly. He was excellent in Kingdom of Heaven and even blew me away with his performance. I cannot wait for Elizabethtown to come out, and show people who have no faith in his acting abilities just what a good actor he really is.:flower:

^ hmmm, i've seen the calcium kid and ned kelly. wasn't impressed with either of the films as a whole but he isn't horrible. perhaps elizabethtown will change my mind? cameron crowe is directing, no? we shall see.

my real complaint with orlando is he is overhyped. i never really got a chance to genuinely like him b/c the media force-fed him down my throat. i guess that's the media/publics fault though.

but yes, i'm done here. enjoy guys.

When you say it like that I really get where you're coming from because it reminds me of a certain simpering blonde "actress" who's constantly being shoved in my face. Got my new Vogue magazine yesterday and was so excited only to open it and see her face on a Revlon ad. It's annoying when you constantly have to see someone and you just don't get their appeal!

Still, I love Orlando for more than his looks and I do believe he has talent. He is improving more with every movie. I won't lie and tell you that I've loved all his performances... I thought he was horrible in Troy, but part of being young and just "starting" your career is making mistakes, learning from them, and getting better. Heck, I do that all the time in my own career, I'm always improving just as he is. I think that Orlando is going to surprise a lot of people with his performance in Elizabethtown because it's so not typical of a role for him. Besides that, I always try to remember that Orlando was thrown into Hollywood before having a chance to do the "typical" things that new actors do. You know, theatre, "bomb" movies, etc... Most actors like Pitt and Depp didn't get the chance to carry the weight of a starring role only 5 years out of drama school. Plus, I doubt directors like Cameron Crowe and Ridley Scott would choose Orlando to be in their films if they just wanted him on looks alone. Yea, he has a large and loyal fan base, but that's not enough to sell a movie. KoH didn't do so well at the box office. Anyway, I like Orlando for various reasons and I will always be a fan of his even if I have to put up with that stupid simpering blonde I talked about in my first paragraph! ;)

I don't know....but in the UK I don't hear much about Orlando to be honest which is weird cause this is his country. So I only generally know him more via the net.

I guess in recent years he has been a bit overhype but with all new actors that come along its kind of natural. His popularity is not all it has been, and its dying down to be honest.

I guess people who like Orlando see a kind hearted soul, and generally a great guy who has had nothing bad said about him. And he has changed my mind a whole lot after meeting him, he is really a sweetheart.

But yeah I can't wait for ET, it looks like such a great film. And speaking of which the trailer is available to download on MTV.com.:woot:

My god, he can really do a great American accent!!B)

There will always be someone who we just don't get what thier appeal is to certain people....it all varies on taste to be honest. Can you imagine if we all agreed with each other.

But i loved how you stated it Gretchen, not many great directors especially Crowe and Ridley would take Orlando just cause he is the new it boy. I think they saw potential, and judging from both those films, he has it.

In my cinema, many people are still buying tickets for KOH so even though its not considered a big blockbuster it, it still appreciated by the public in both genders might I add.:innocent:

yes, i think it best to move on when you aren't really offering much with info, pictures or style assessments...very neg and inflammatory is how it reads.
best to go to threads where you can say something productive or contribute something.

KOH made over 150 million dollars overseas, that is pretty darn good, but only made over 50 million here, Americans don't appreciate good films, plus I think the release date was bad, who in their right mind would open a historical film on the first weekend of summer, no kids are gonna go see that, and only kids are at the movies that time of year, those films should open up in the fall. and by the way, both Orlando Eva and ridley said, the film was allot better, a GREAT film, great enough to match gladiator, but the studio cut it down a whole 45 minutes, b/c they didn't think ppl would want to see that long of a movie, I don't give a sh*it how long it is, just as long as it is good. And by the way, thought he was great in TROY, he was a complete pathetic wimp, no self worth, nothing at all, a coward, you couldn't help but yell, "YOU STUPID KID" sometimes, and that was PERFECT. The character was a down and shameful wimp, no courage and no hart, Orlando did a wonderful job PLAYIN G THE CHARACTER, and he did a good job as a wimp, b/c HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A WIMP. So I really don't see the problem with his performance, especially since he has always played the guy who saves the day, then all of a sudden, he is playing the guy who RUINS the day, bravo in my opinion. SOMEBODY PLEEEEAAASEE explain WHY you think he did so bad in troy?? I'm dying to know, b/c I really just don't see it. I have a problem liking ppl who have no personality, or no appearance of a personality, personality to me, is color, you got no color, you got no personality.

no kids are gonna go see that, and only kids are at the movies that time of year, those films should open up in the fall

Lets remember KOh was not made for kids, this was a historical epic. And Scott was not going for blockbuster glory anyhow, he never does. I think Americans are just tired of epics in general, ala Troy and Alexander.

And Orlando was bad in Troy there is no denying that, even I as a massive fan can see the flaws he did. Its not so much his character but the way he acted and delivered his lines. It was flat and monotone, and he looked silly. I guess Orlando only does well with directors he is more comfortable with, and I do remember Peter O Tool saying how Wolfgang was not an "actor's director" or something along those lines.

Grr, but that was the thing, you weren't SUPPOSED to like the character, you were supposed to loath him, that is why Orlando delivered it that way, he was supposed to be the stupid idiotic moronic little brother, who acted like he knew what love was, acted really gushy, but had no idea what the hell he was talking about, I just don't get what you are saying, He was SUPPOSED to look SILLY, he was this stupid kid running around starting a war for some wh*re. I just don't understand

I guess that I just personally felt like some of his lines were really "forced" and so unnatural. It had nothing to do with the way he portrayed the character, because that part he did very well. What I didn't like was the way he delivered his lines... it was too contrived and almost TOO much somtimes. Like the part where he's with Helen and he says, "You don't have to fear tomorrow," I was like ohhh Nelly, that was just weird for me. I still love him and he's getting better all the time! He loves what he does and I have NO DOUBTS about his talent! I think he's gonna be around for a really long time!

ETA: Bah, I just realized I restated almost exactly what you said Bohochic! Sorry about that! In other words, I agree with you!

So they haven’t kissed, otherwise there would be pictures of it. And why may you ask haven’t they?? They are willing to put on a show, that looks like they are together, but they are not willing to go THAT far, b/c they are just friends.

... Well, they did kiss. (see picture attached)

Now let's all just agree to disagree, because we're never going to get anywhere by 'discussing' the same things and the same opinions all the time - on both counts, from people who do not think it's PR and people who do.

Now, back to Orlando's Style ... :flower:

LOL, can't see anything, his hair is in the way, so don't even try honey. And i don't understand, if you want us to get back on the topic of his style, why post a picture showing him in a "relationship" no matter what kind it is?? Doesn't make sense to me. And we weren't talking about his relationships anymore, which i thought was obvious, considering THIS whole page is full of nothing but talking about his movies, im pretty sure that is allowed right.

lol, sorry, just came across this, by the way this is one of my favorite outfits of his

* Picture didn't work

LOL, they refer to her as "MYSSTERY BLONDE" Not even a major magazine knew who she was, just shows how much more famous he is, and no im not being spiteful, just thought it was funny, now, love the jeans, love the shirt, its red, lol, and I love the scarf of course, and love the hat thingy, whatever you call it, and he has the pirate hair going on, sexy. This is an old picture by the way, just in case none of you knew.

So glad he got rid of the gas guzzling SUV by the way.

I think he is a really good casual dresser, he is laid back, but still looks put together, like he actually looked at himself before going out for the day, unlike 99.9% of guys in Hollywood, not that Orlando is like any of those guys though, I don't consider him a Hollywood guy, just a normal guy.

That was my final say on the matter, if you really think that behind his hair they're hiding with their lips a couple of centimetres apart hoping to be photographed, so be it.

:flower:

The image you posted didn't work, I'm assuming you meant to post this?

^^ Love what he is wearing in that pic! Even in LA and you know how hot it is, he still wears a scarf!

Got to love this man's fashion.

Mystery blonde, indeed! Even back then they did not know who Kate was. Awwww! ^_^
