This is a thread specifically for magazine features on people's homes. Articles giving us a glimpse into how the owner's came to personalizing their home etc...

Here is an article on Massimo Tocchetti's Marrakesh home from the Sunday Times Style magazine Dec 31 2006.

Nice thread idea, Karina :) House you posted is amazing ...

Thanks StyleIsInUs!:flower: Morrocan buildings have probably the best layout with the high ceilings, roof terraces and open courtyards. It's all so luxuriant. I love the little touches that Tocchetti made, like the black and gold lacquered chinoiserie table.

An article on Saskia Pringier's Sri Lankan home from Stella Magazine 31st December 2006.

And a big thank you to chanel, Mulletproof and Emilia for your scans! :flower:

Rene Herbst's house is simply stunning, with such strong lines especially for the staircase!

Rene Herbst's house looks divine. More pictures of minimalistic homes, please.

Karina, thanks for the karma.
and to answer your question :p , rené was one of the modernists in the time of Bauhaus, he was one of the first designers to include metal in his creations in the early 20s and he actually generated a new aesthetic from blending silk, wood, linoleum, glass, steel..and metal of course.
I believe his house was built in the 1930s, which is one of the reasons why i love it so much, it still feels very innovative and entirely different from the legacy we have from that decade [in my country, at least!].
unfortunately, he wanted his designs to be produced massively at all costs so it'd be easy for people to accept them, his plans didnt go very far and only two of his designs were mass-produced, he never pardoned the industrialist for copying his designs without developing his projects.. he died in misery and albeit, highly respected, he's barely remembered these days. -_-

Wow! That's fascinating! Thanks for filling me in on Rene.:flower:
I'm still in shock that it was designed in the 1930's because it still feels very modern! As I said the house has a v strong personality stamped on it and now I know more about the designer it all fits! ^_^

you're very welcome, karina!.
I was in shock too when i found out the date of the house!.. however, for some reason, I can totally imagine 30s people living and even dancing in that house haha, especially the bathroom. it probably felt marvelous to live in such a vanguardist construction at the time...
