Pairing Shoes with Clothes Help Thread

My hair color is a strawberry blonde color, but more blonde...i'm not sure if that made sense to you, but hopefully you get it.

I think I'm just leaving my hair down, it's a little longer than my shoulders right now, but I'm getting my hair cut on Monday and Homecoming is on Saturday so I think I will just have it down and straight.

i like the gold victoriasecrets.com best.
I think because your dress is grey, you get to brighten/funk/sex it up with gorgeous and bright shoes. (Cameron Diaz does this so often) With grey, you can get away with most colours for shoes imo. Sorry for being pretty much useless. :(

You should get one of the resident stylists here to help you out. Maybe PM one of them... good luck. Post the final product!

Alright well thanks for your help, who are the resident stylists? The ones with the purple names?...haha i'm clueless.

i posted this on another thread but didnt get too much help, so hopefull u skilled shoe pickers can help me? hehe
this is my dress for graduation.. i wuld prefer for the shoes to not be heels as there are many steps to climb and would find it overly embarrassing to trip in front of everyone :S so a sturdy hell like wedges is fine but otherwise flats. a friend suggested coloured shoes, like purple, YELLOW or green. what do you think? THANK YOU :flower:

I would say black shoes would be excellent. High-heel pumps wouls be better although a very nice sandal would also do the trick. Don't spoil the dress with coloured shoes though. It would just not be right........

shelbyo, it looks like your dress has some metallic in it? Is that silver i see? Anyways, I think a silver sandal would look good with the grey.

I'd suggest Silver D'Orsays or Black MaryJanes/Peeptoes.

I see this dress as simple and elegant so I personally wouldn't kill that look with bright colours. But a little heel is better to give you some 'oomph'?

Maybe something with a chunkier heel for balance?

help!

ok so I have these boots that I bought last year and I still havent worn them because I have no idea what to wear them with. It was one of those oooh they're on sale lets buy!! purchases, but i'm going to try to give them a chance this fall.
They're all suede, round toe, they end about 3 inches above my ankle.

Black skinny pants or leggings with a big sweater?

This is a really old post, but I'll respond anyway.

doesn't black go with everything. I really think it's the look you're going for. For instance, it would probably look alright if I paired a totally black outfit with black shoes, but usually I don't do that because I feel like I'm trying too hard, or that I look goth when I might not want to look goth. I'll usually pair a lot of black with my purplish suede shoes, or shoes in the right shade of brown (brown can look either really horrible with black, or really right). Basically, you can't go wrong with black. Because it's a basic. (ha!)
Just don't pair it with something you can't pull off with or without the shoes.

BUMP! hope that's OK? There was a question on 'post your shoes' regarding what shoes would be best with a dress. Someone suggested this thread be created hence the bump.

I scored these Chloe platform oxfords (the slightly shorter, non-runway version, that is) during the winter sales, and I could use some help with what to wear with them! I'd like to get some wear out of them while it's still cold out. My first instinct is to go for the dress + tights + overcoat + shoes, but that seems so expected. Any other suggestions?

I'd wear them with baggy or bootcut trousers / jeans, or tights and a shorter skirt. A really pretty floral dress would be quite a good contrast too, keep it short.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions... I will try some of them out this week!
