Yes, I know its startlingly to know Pakistan, which currently is suffering from severe backlash, in her major cities hosted a fashion week on November 2009.

CNN/BBC/Fox and other international news channels, big or small, took notice and on youtube there are some videos. This fashion week only grew in popularity after three Pakistani designers stunned the audience in Milan Fashion Week--so much so that the head of the Italian Fashion Council yelled: "Bellisimo!"

Before the recent attacks began in Pakistan, french vogue, head of Miami Fashion Week, and many other renowned individuals were going to arrive. But on the insistence of the organizers, they didn't come and a major organizer even pulled out.

But the Pakistani Fashion week, in defiance of the Taliban, put on a show of international standards and awed the audience there. Due to the beautiful models and talented designers, who were all of Pakistani descent and part of Pakistani Fashion Council, the show was a success.

So here are two Youtube videos and the credit goes to Style 360 of two renowned Pakistani designer, Rizwan Beyg and Nomi Ansari.

its unfortunate the presentation and models were so campy
i liked that first show, other than the headwear

I actually like the presentation. My cousin went there and liked it. She said it was simple yet had great music and lightings. Also lets not forget the main organization pulled out in fear

and i so wanna put on deepak pervani and HSY and Maheen Khan--shocked and elegant. their clothes were inspired by the kalash/himalayan culture of tribal areas (google kalash people).

I appreciate the 90s-style modeling. Some pieces were nice indeed. ^_^

Just the fact the models have so much attitude makes me love the clothes. So much intensity. Very reminiscent of 90's fashion weeks.

the comments on youtube are somewhat unsettling.

but its nice to see that fashion is universal

Yea, but I mean people have the right to voice their opinions. Even here in the west, people say fashion is for those who can buy a sock for 500 dollars and see anorexic, bony women walking down a ramp. Personally, I think that too somewhat but at the same time I believe fashion = expression of culture so yes there are some bad points but very good ones too.

Here is a cultural part of the fashion week:

A fashion show by Ather & Sabeen: They were inspired by people from the Thar Desert in southern Pakistan.--imagine kohl eyes women, bronze complexion, bright clothes

Part two
