So. I just got accepted on scholorship to the parsons summer intensive studies for design and management (like 3000K, but i still had to pay like 3000 for housing.... *sigh* anyhoo!) has anyone heard about these programs? are they any good? worth it? potentially my make or break for getting in? (which is why i'm hoping i do make a good impression!)

Thanks loves!

Michael

I'm taking the Pratt pogram and it seems like its going to be worth the money.

hey! i went to the summer intenseive last summer for fashion design and two of my close friends there went for design & management. one of them loved the course, the other not so much. but they still had an awesome time! we took the college course.

Do you have any idea why youre friend didnt like the course? im thinking about taking design and management this summer also and was wondering how it was, work and fun wise. Also how are the dorms???
thanks!

Lil Sweetie, you sooooo past the deadline o.o;;;;
I just hope that it doesnt have alot to do with artistic ability or math...and the focus is on writing and MANAGEMENT o.o;.........anyhoo.

All i know is that i'm also taking the college course... im RIDICULOUSLY excited, i just got the little guidebook in the mail, and i almost peed myself ;-)

yeah it definitely focuses on management and writing.

i know at the end of the session you have to design a product and apply a plan to it and everything. very business-oriented/marketing i would think. not so much "fashion" oriented.

i don't think she liked it because she was more into advertising/journalism. but the teachers def. tried to make the course beneficial for her interests.

Design a product?! like a breathable, real, physical product?! how in the world are we to create that?! lol

i did the college level/adult summer intensive in graphic design and i found it to be very worthwhile...
i had an aunt that lived in the city that i could stay with, so i didn't have to pay the extra $3k for housing, but i think living with other students is beneficial for collaborating and just having support...
it is pretty intense...
you're in class all day and completing assignments at night (sometimes through the night), but definitely fun and worthwhile if you want an edge before applying to college or to supplement the classes at your college...

Woot! Sounds super fun, i want to live and breath managment. i find it invigorating...so long as someone is their to make my tea :D

Welllllll just wanted to say that i got in, payed for the housing, and i'm so rediculously excited i may just pee myself (not really!) i've got my bags packed to leave july 1st.... lol, anyone else going?

I went last year.
I do not know which house you are staying in, but bring extra money for a standing fan, most houses do not have airconditioning.

Was it worth it to you? ha, belive me i sent in my money wayyy early to make sure i got ac, cause if not, i would *die*

I did not stay in a dorm. Everyone else in my class did and all or the majority of them had rooms with no AC. Some were in buildings where there was a bathroom per floor, not per room. Which I find very unfair because everyone paid the same price.

hey i did that last summer. I didnt live on campus i took the train everyday from CT it was such a b*tch, but overall it was AWESOME! i met some great people! awesome teachers and had the best expirience! trust me ur gonna love it! i just wish it didnt take me back like $3000 but it was def worth it!

i'm actually trying to decide between this and the FIT summer program! both seem to provide around the the same basics but im wondering if parsons would be better..maybe im just thinking that because it's more costly

Well from what i can tell the FIT one is only perday, but parsons is like.... all day 24/7. All i know is when i called and asked about the dorm i was staying in, it's something like one block or so away, near whole foods on 6th ave. and it has central air, thank the good lord.

It's been a bit of a struggle to squeeze the money out of my parents for it, but i'm personally paying for it (the housing part) with my beautiful salary at teavana (9.50 for a highschool student, plus bonus?! ha! love it.) and have only like 300 dollars to go, but my mum already put it on her card like months ago, so i know it's secure. I'm just worried i will go on a shopping frenzy when i go =(.....I hope they give me lots of homework so i can not go to any stores :D
