We were pleasantly surprised when Philip Huang talked up a storm during his go-see this week, telling us about everything from where he was born (our favorite local hospital, St. Vincents) to the historical connection between Taiwan and Japan.
The loquacious young man has had a dominating presence in the pages of magazines and on the runways across the globe. Just one look at him and it is immediately obvious why he is so successful. Yet after chatting with him for a bit we were also impressed with the nuances in the stories he told of his heritage. As it turns out, Philip hops on a flight to Taiwan whenever he has some free time, not shabby for a kid born so far from his parents’ homeland. And we can completely understand why, after his tales of green tropical mountains and hidden villages of ancient Japanese architecture
