Philipp Plein drew inspiration from Marcel Duchamp’s “readymades” — the ordinary manufactured objects selected by Duchamp that, whether by repositioning or signing, he transformed into art — as well as Swiss pop artist Sylvie Fleury’s fetishization of “everyday luxury.”

Plein translated these ideas into his resort lineup by focusing on the emoji zeitgeist, rendering the digital motifs on colorful leather bombers, biker jackets and vests, sexy minidresses and leggings with Swarovski crystals, studs, spikes and sequins. The less embellished looks were still bold in their graphic, digitally printed patterns, which referenced Pac-Man, Tamagotchi and other electric games, as well as in their itsy bitsy hemlines — proving that Plein’s street-savvy looks are only for the brave.
