Italian born actress (Cagliari, June 19 1932) famous for her roles in Teresa and Somebody Up There Likes Me.
She had a close relationship (and engagement) to James Dean but broke it off suddenly and married Vic Damone in 1963. The marriage ended after two years and she later said in life that James Dean had been the true love of her life.
She sadly died of an overdose of barbiturates in 1971.

I think she's beautiful. Anyone else love Pier?

I watched Pier yesterday in the British film "The Angry Silence" in which she plays the Italian wife of Richard Attenbourgh's cockney, working class lad who are terrorized and ostracised by the community when he refuses to join an unofficial strike at his workplace. Pier gave such an intense and emotive performance in the film - I was taken aback. If anyone gets the chance to see it, see it!

Pier had the most exquisite eyes and delicate bone structure. Quite ethereal.

Being a Dean fan I'd heard about her and seen a few pictures but I had no idea she was so pretty. Kind of upsetting she was in Somebody Up There Likes Me when James was originally going to be in that as well, they could've starred together.

Karina, you and I have the same damn taste in near everything! Thandie, Renee Perle and now Pier! Pier was like a cross between Natalie Wood and Audrey Hepburn. Very sad, tragic life. Her sister Marisa Pavan was also an actress and in fact, Pier's last name was Pierangeli.

She was also engaged to Kirk Douglas at one point (he is alleged to have raped Natalie Wood.) Pier was forced to marry Vic Damone, who she married twice. They had two kids-the eldest boy is rumored to be James Dean's kid-but Pier said her only love was Jimmy.
