Biography
Born in London, England, Polly Osmond was always drawn to the arts. She attended the London College of Fashion studying hair and make-up and soon found herself assisting some of the most influential make-up artists of the time. At 26 years old, she created the looks for the Jeremy Scott runway show in New York where her artistry caught the eye of iconic photographer Steven Klein. He fell in love with her work and the two began working together, creating stunning images for years to come and making Polly Osmond into a make-up legend.
Polly Osmond’s career has spanned over a decade and reached the far corners of the world. Her work has accompanied the photography of legends such as Liz Collins, Patrick Demarchelier, Arthur Elgort, Nathaniel Goldberg, Steven Klein, Annie Leibowitz, Peter Lindburgh, Alexi Lubomirski, Jem Mitchell, Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot, Rankin, Norman Jean Roy, Carter Smith, Solve Sundsbo, Mario Testino, and Kenneth Willardt. She has created looks for the pages of Allure, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, i-D, Lui, Numéro, Vanity Fair, Vogue, and W Magazine. She has created flawless looks for celebrities and supermodels including Jessica Biel, Cate Blanchett, Kate Bosworth, Gisele Bundchen, Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen, Lily Collins, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Anna Kendrick, Adriana Lima, Lea Michelle, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rosamund Pike, Rita Ora, and Emma Watson. Polly pulls her inspirations from everywhere: “Colors in flowers, industrial buildings, art, music, history, different cultures, food; the more visual knowledge you have the better," she says. "Then it becomes about breaking it down, deconstructing and adding twists to make it your own.” Natural instinct married with inspiration has allowed Polly to create looks for the runways of Kenneth Cole, Margaret Howell, Nanette Lepore, Julien MacDonald, John Rocha, Jeremy Scott, Christian Siriano, Rebecca Taylor, Skaist Taylor, and Sportmax. “With a good team, the clothes themselves tell a story," Polly says.
Polly claims that her hallmarks are skincare and lipsticks, and if stranded on a desert island, she would need sun cream, lipstick, and a razor: “I wouldn’t want to be really hairy when they rescued me!” she chuckles. Always with her sense of humor intact, Polly continues to look toward the future, “This business is full of swings and roundabouts; you just never know what each day brings.” she says. “If you have a voice and a smart brain, use it!...and some balm for a very sext pout!”
