Has anyone else noticed a recent rise in tattooing? Especially among young people, getting very interesting tattoos. I couldn't find many pictures, but here's one:

(I wasn't sure what grouping this would go under, sorry if I was mistaken! )

In reference to the trend. For S/S 05 I was inspired to do a line of tattooed handbags (if I had a handbag line). Using an off white leather that has black shading at the edges (for age) and I wanted very japanese tattoos on them, I dont know if it would work technically but I dont see why it wouldnt, also it's better than a screenprint. Like enormous coy, and other traditional Japanese tattooing. I find tattoos to be beautiful, although I would never get one.

yeah, recently i've seen guys with like bold strokes of black paint tattooed on... v.v. cool... as fourboltmain said, its a step up from the tired and cliched tribal theme... i've been thinking of getting one done myself... better think about it :p

Yes, I think they are cute, and (most) actually have some meaning behind them. This trend seems to be more popular among the "scenesters" here (in NYC.)
I'm actually surprised I have not seen any of Japanese anime or "kawaii" characters. That might be cute-looking.

The problem with "Trends" is they die out quite quickly and a tattoo is permanent, so better be sure to really like before getting it.... ..not just because it's trendy! ;)

that's what i was thinking too kimkhuu...

i used to have a friend who has several miro tattoos all over her body - some on her wrist, some on her ankle, shoulder, hip, etc. they are just the small, primary colored weird shapes that she has, not whole works, and while i found it refreshing that they weren't tribals, butterflies, flowers or the like, i still thought it a shame that she was going to have all these unrelatable little squiggles all over the place. interesting, but strange at the same time.

i love tattoos... body art can be so beautiful when it is art. please don't ever go to a tattoo parlor and pick something out of a book, commission it from the tattoo artist, if you are getting something permanent, I feel like you should have something original and most of all, you.

it is not a trend, and should not be taken lightly. I believe strongly in making your body unique and yours, but it is a lasting choice so be sure you understand that.

and vent coming up- i cannot stand it when someone gets a tattoo of a word in a different language (characters, ect.) that not only they cannnot speak or read, but that they consider mostly as an image with some meaning (that they know only because someone told them what it means).

and yes- I have seen a rise in tattooing in our generation... both good and bad.

its not tribal, which is always good, but its not unique since so many people are getting them.
