So, I am starting to look for a new job. Since I haven't worn a suit in ages I left my tie collection at my parents house a few years ago. My dear father decided to donate all of them to Salvation Army... without asking me. So now they are gone (including my beloved Hermes). Yea. So, I need a power tie! The obvious and a very expensive choice is Hermes. The best choice is Hermes at a Hermes sample sale. Is there one soon? What are my other choices? My suit will be black (duh). Post away!

P.S. Don't suggest Ebay for Hermes, since it is a widely "imitated" brand.

beilieve it or not..i like prada ties...and armani...

By power-tie do you mean uber-boring business tie? In which case, Hugo Boss, Paul Smith, Giorgio Armani the usual culprits. Agnes B. or APC might make you look less like you have a degree in advanced sand to arabs economics...

I got a really quite nice olive green Armani tie made out of knitted wool with strands of silk knitted through it a few months back. £5 Oxfam :D

I mean something conservative yet standing out. I went with a Zegna tie today, purple/red, nicely textured (I hate ties w/out texture) - very cool.

You had/have an interview today? Good luck!!! :flower:

I think you should be working at A....if they could afford you....

 Of course, I would like to work somewhere like that. But I don't think they can afford me. No interviews yet, I'm just starting to send out resumes. Off to Barneys outlet this weekend to buy a suit...

In the interest of getting something sooner rather than later, you can browse Hermes online. What sort of industry are you applying to? That would influence the choice.

Valentino makes great ties imo.
It was pretty much betwee Valention, Etro, and Zegna. I like Etro as a label better, but Zegna was just a perfect one.

Yea, I generally love Etro color schemes, but this time I just couldn't find the right one. I tried :p

A choice from the Zegna satorial collection IMO would be a good investment, (yes some may look boring) but for an interview tie, zegna has a luxurious understated appeal.

Yohji has some very nice patterned ties.. some that are conservative enough to wear to work.
