Prada Casting Director Russell Marsh Accused of Bribes

I wonder if he is also open to bribes from a certain online fashion community:innocent::woot:

Well someone on here wrote that he only hangs out with a booker from IMG, Women and DNA...it's very selective but those agencies do have some of the best girls. But it doesn't mean other agencies don't have a few gems either...

It was pretty telling that the "IT" girl of the season, Karlie Kloss was not at Prada and coincidentally she is not at any of those agencies. It speaks volumes...

not really that surprised. models are in a ridiculously competitive field. buying off a casting director is just another way of getting ahead.

besides, their print work and longevity will show who the real top girls are.

personally , Women have the best girls as of late, far better than the king of agencies- IMG and others...

This report remebered me of this :

Women Milan Rocks It Out At Prada

The most directional show in Milan saw a big moment for Women Milan which landed 13 of their beauties on the Prada runway led by that sensational new face Natalia Chabanenko who opened and closed the lace laden proceedings. With Alana, Alyona, Amanda, Daiane, Georgina, Hanne, Isabeli, Jourdan, Kasia, Natasha, Suvi and Vlada reeling out look after look , it certainly cemented Women Milano’s status as a star-making destination!

Many "It" girls never make it into Prada. Caroline Trentini, Heather Marks, and Natasha Poly up until recently have never been in a Prada show before. I don't think that's anything to go by...

But Prada shows still feature 'exlusives' from other agencies.

2 seasons ago, Cate Chant exclusive with Prada is with New York Models. Sara Blomqvist is with DNA. And theres no doubt that the quality of girls at Women and IMG is superior to other agencies simply because they can attract and keep the best girls.

Not that i'm denying that these claims aren't possible.

Caroline and Natasha don't look like Prada girls though...Heather does but I don't think she was ever considered an It girl since she rose at the same time Gemma Ward did and she was the star of that time.

But you're pitting it against Karlie's agency affliliation. Could it be simply that Miuccia does not feel she is right for Prada? Her opinion, your opinion, and my opinion can be completely different and that's why it's all subjective. Heather Marks is with Women and I feel that Karlie's career now could be compared to Heather's career when she started. If I remember correctly, Heather was on every single important runway and was the bride at several couture shows her first season. Sure she may have been overshadowed by Gemma, but isn't Karlie being overshadowed by Ali Stephens?

All i'm trying to say is that I don't think that Karlie isn't in Prada simply because of her agency.

I think her missing from Miuccia's shows was telling and has something to do with that. I'll go with the conspiracy theory this time...only because in the 'model behavior' thread Russell has been a topic of conversation as far as his dealings...:innocent:

I do remember at one point one of his favorites was Diana Dondoe and he put her everywhere, even on the London shows he was casting...but that wasn't until she was finally at an agency like IMG...

meghan sutherland? do they mean meghan collinson?

frankly, I wouldn't put it past people in the industry to do this. Anything to get ahead, that includes money

Don't forget that Catherine McNeil is also with the same agency as Karlie Kloss and she walked Miu Miu Spring 2008 and Prada Fall 2008. Some models just don't seem to book shows. I believe Freja Beha has never walked Valentino and I'm sure it's not because she's with IMG.

If they meant Meghan Collison, maybe she didn't get cast because she is terribly unattractive? :innocent:

Anyways, I don't know if I can buy into the whole conspiracy theory... Women and IMG really do have some of the best girls.

 what's new? not bribery at least...it's not only concerning money..but also includes some other 'favours'

update from Fashionista.com

This weekend, we received an official statement from IMG about the Russel Marsh rumor. Here's what it said:

"The allegation that Prada or Miu Miu have utilized models managed by IMG based on anything more than their talent is ridiculous and flatly untrue. We have the privilege of representing many of the most beautiful and sought after women in the industry and we are outraged that those model's hard work is being disparaged."

We welcome other feedback (and got a ton of it the past few days), but we can vouch for this: IMG is right, their models do work incredibly hard.

that's what was posted in Egle Tvirbutaite thread (she is from Major)

To say it simply, some very big agencies have enough power to gently ask to a client close from them, not to book some girls from other agencies...
lagerfeld, chanel, St laurent...no access for any top girls if they are not from "some" agencies....

That's shady...but I do believe certain models can transcend that, they just have to be exceptional. I mean Tiiu started with Major and booked everything, she was still held back on certain things but she did better in fashoin than one would imagine at an agency like Major.
