the only pic i found..i like it very much...surprisingly...

^ me too, i love the concept behind project alabama... not to mention the clothes are usually very beautiful. thanks for the pic softgrey~i would love to see more!

saw this in Paris last week - its flabbergastingly expensive - one dress which was over E12,000 - mental. Those quilt makers are onto a good thing here! I wasn't sure that I liked it that much. There is skill involved indeed but I am not sure I liked the end product.

What exactly is the concept behind this label? Is it re-sewn vintage clothes?

it's all made of individually cut pieces and sewn together by hand...
bit by bit in layers like a traditional american quilt...

all the stitches are very meticulous and uniform and visible as part of the design and aesthetic...and then tied off on the back...the inside is as interesting to look at as the outside...:flower:

though I understand the idea there a lot of work is involved in the making of the clothes, the price point is ridiculous. I think it is overpriced but at least it is handmade but I haven't seen anything of their's that I've liked since a long time ago when they were quite underground.

I've never been a fan of this stuff..I always found it overpriced and the designs aren't that great. ($900 bright orange t-shirt with a mediocre print)

The concept and the women behind this line are just so amazing, I spent some time with them recently discussing their line, because we were thinking of carrying it in our boutique. They are so detail oriented and so traditional in their production. Their line is pricey but so worth it! (we didn't pick them up because of high price points and lack of appreciation of their craftsmanship by most consumers)

Thanks for the info, softgrey.

raijin, that is insane (the t-shirt and its pricing).

Does this designer do mens stuff? If so, could someone please post any pics they have of it? Thanks in advance.

They do, FTB.

I have also seen incredibly mediocre blazers from them.

i just want to point out that it is not a 'print' but a hand done applique...which takes a very long time to apply and is what accounts for the price...

whether it is your taste or not...the workmanship is undeniable...

i agree fashionabella...it's a very hard sell...

i absolutely love project alabama. the prices may be "insane," but essentially these pieces are haute couture. each is meticulously stitched and embellished completely by hand, and in my opinion it's definitely worth it. i'd buy if i could afford it

they also have a lower-priced line, project alabama machine ... the garments are, obviously not hand-made but done with sewing machines yet are still beautiful imo... the garments in the machine line sell for about 1/3 the price of something from the normal project alabama line... :flower:
