Q & A: Curling Irons

How on earth do you use a curling wand???!!! ive been trying for about a year and all that i can do is kink the ends of my hair (which is long and very thick).
Is there a special technique that i dont know about?
Please help!

I'm the same! And I want to know too...

i have the kind of hair straightener that curls as well... not a 2 in 1 but one of those expensive thin ones which you can wrap the hair around and apparently it curlls... idk... the girl did it for me but i CANNOT replicate!!!! anybody have any advice?

I own a Rusk curling iron in both one and a quarter inch and one inch. I love this curler because it has a good heat setting and the higher you set it the longer the curls seem to hold; and I have stick straight hair.

For loose waves I just take sections and put the heat setting on 8. And for when I go out, I tend to split my hair as if I'm gonna tie a half ponytail and then curl on a setting of 15. More curls that way and a bit more volume since you're curling the hair in 2 parts.

For both the styles I always curl the hair 'out' as oppose to curling it in towards your face... does that make any sense? lol.

If anyone wants me to post pictures of my curled hair I'd be more than happy to.

i have a ceramic curling iron that i got from spain this past summer but my curls never seem to stay compared to the non ceramic iron that i had before and used to curl my hair perfectly.
i think the ceramic one is remington, and the other one i got from wallmart
it s really annoying since i LOVE curling my hair and even if i put hairspray the curls fall down before i even leave the house:yuk::cry::angry:

^ try putting mousse in it. i read in a magazine that ken paves makes jessica simpson put mousse in her hair after a shower the night before he's going to do her hair
