She is on the cover of Dutch Elle October 2012 btw
[via telegraph.co.uk]We catch up with Dutch model and former face of Miu Miu, Querelle, on our Mono Mania shoot.
'It was really fast,' the Dutch model Querelle recalls of her launch into the world of fashon. Discovered at 17 in a Paris park by a scout for City Models, she was signed the same day and within weeks was shooting for British Vogue. She was born Lisette Jansen in northern Holland, where she lives with her boyfriend, and it was the owner of City Models, Fredericke Levi, who changed her name to Querelle. 'It's from the novel Querelle de Brest by Jean Genet,' the 26-year-old explains. 'With a model name I can keep my two lives separate. At home I am Lisette and at my job I am Querelle.'
Personal style Goth but feminine. I mix a lot of styles, I like vintage. I'm not someone who's excited about big fashion brands or wants to have the latest bag. It's a more personal thing.
Favourite designer I've worked with Prada from the beginning so I feel connected to the Prada and Miu Miu style.
Jewellery I like a statement necklace that makes a simple outfit chic or maybe a ring with a skull or lightning bolt.
Trainers I don't wear sneakers a lot but what I do like is simple Converse.
Shoes My biker boots from Sacha Shoes in Holland. They have silver studs and are cool and comfortable.
Bag An Alexander Wang bag that I got last season. It's a black cotton tote bag, but it has a weird handle and a leather bottom.
Vintage shops Zipper and Episode in Amsterdam are really good.
Beauty treatment I have sensitive skin and when I was younger I had a lot of eczema so I went to a dermatologist in Paris who recommended moisturisers from the pharmacy there. They're called Dermagor Suppletive and Embryolisse. I can live without beauty products but I like the YSL Touch Eclat Radiant Touch highlighter. It makes my skin look refreshed.
Exercise I ride my bike in Holland a lot, but I think my body is naturally skinny. What I do find important is to have a good night's sleep and a healty diet. I'm not obsessed about food.
Holiday Destination What I really want to do with my boyfriend in a couple of years is take a road trip and visit the real United States, the middle of nowhere.
Restaurant Usually I prefer to stay at home and cook. I make a lot of international dishes; Italian, Mexican, vegetarian. It's fun to be creative.
Comfort food Pasta and French fries.
City New York. In the beginning it was hard for me to enjoy it because I was so young and alone. But what I like now is to walk around amid the diversity of the city.
Gadget My Apple MacBook, which I always take with me when I travel. I watch movies on it and it's also a way to stay connected to my family and friends.
Book Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer, an intense and engaging book about 9/11 that really touched me.
Music I like indie rock but weirdly I also listen to American Country, more like Bluegrass. I love Justin Townes Earle.
Film Into the Wild . The music, the quietness and the whole story, I think, touches everyone. Everybody dreams about that, to disappear.
Guilty Pleasure It's a contradiction. I like to enjoy pleasures and it's a shame to feel guilty. I live a healthy life but I like to enjoy my life as well. I don't feel guilty.
