Rachel Clark

High fashion credibility is next to nonexistent. If a model plays it smart, they can hedge VS into so much leverage that they jump back into the 'high fashion' circuit. The high fashion industry is the one that readily uses and discards its models for the next 'look' (which they can't even seem to define while they move like sheep to imitate the next high fashion house).

If Rachel is going to do VS, more power to her. There's a reason why models regularly jump to go there. And it has just as much to do about career opportunity than it does the money. VS actually cares for making a name for their models.

ah Im just being funny right now. only defensive because shes one of my favorites. truth is when I first worked with her I had a feeling because she just had that face that worked for everything. The second time I worked with her a few months later she really brought it. She had picked up so much a few months that most models never get a grip on. just recently again......... i tell you shes the total package. she just never turns it off and doesnt tire out. piping with energy and smiling to the end with that supermodel stamina that shows she really puts an effort into what she does thats why I love working with girls like her. theyre so rare but they make my life suuuuuch a breeze LOL
no offense from my defense. I act like a stagemom for all my favorites

i do think VS on its own is a grounding foundation to really stake a models name into the ground and ensures they wont disappear like the rest and thats what i want for rachel. to be around forever till shes old with dentures LOL i find that a newcomer HF model squeezing into the VS angels crew is an amazing feat. the fact of the matter of how selective and exclusive their choices are matter most in my book to really set VS apart from anything else in the FI. along with their current pool of amazon legends........... luv i dont particularly care if people find lingerie tacky. I think its models that make the clothes. tacky models make tacky ads. RC on the other hand would rock my socks off..............pleez

plus i just heard a few of the models shooting by first name only. i cant think of any other rachels so i went with it  maybe we will see
:woot: woah! Clark got the campaign ,catalog or what?

^ it's not that they leave high fashion at all, it's just that to some people, doing anything with vs takes away some of the model's high fashion credibility, which i don't particularly agree with, although i will admit that there are models who have done something for vs and now... when i see her on a high fashion runway? all i can think is... ugh, she did vs!
VS is a step to lots of lucrative deals in the future so it is GOOD. if RC did get it , the doors wider to a cosmetics/beauty campaigns that's worth a million plus contract! it also assures the model won't disappear anytime soon and blue chip clients will make a note of her. which in the business is what the models aim for.

^ i suppose it all has to do with perception, then. i don't enjoy commercial models, (models you'd see in average cosmetic ads and such.)

Rachel's got more of a high fashion/edgey look but she can also look commercial too but not in a tacky way. She's got the overall package and that's a GOOD THING -- good for the pocketbook

^That is so true. These HF models (like all of us) have to make a living.

It would be great for a lot of the fans if their favorite models just did HF but that is not reality.

If this is true............I think it is fantastic for her!!

i say if a HF model is offered a VS opportunity ...GRAB IT! she's be beyond crazy if she didnt. besides there are blue chip models that do both VS and HF...

*never underestimate VS.

^ don't you ladies feel as if some vs models sometimes get "type-cast," though, as opposed to models doing ads for places such as j. crew, the gap, and etc., etc.? they use high fashion models in their ads and marketing, but those models don't get "type-cast" after having been in their ads/marketing, as opposed to some vs models who do, and are then seen on high fashion runways less and less.

that's why i don't particularly like it when a model i really love lands anything having to do with vs, although yes, it's clear that the money is great.

Runways are not all that you know. it only serves as a stepping stool to get noticed from photographers and big clients alike.

i know that. :flower: i mean, some runway shows aren't even paid for. but that wasn't my question. :(

Why is this up for debate? It's her life. If she's shooting VS then great! If she's not, then great! Whatever, as long as she has a career and produces great work, then I'm happy for her. They're her decisions to make.

^ i think we're just discussing if it's a good move for her, career wise. that's all. :flower:

Depends on what your definition of good is. I know many models choose to do more commercial work because it's less hectic and often pays better. Anyway, I don't think Rachel has a very "edgy" look to begin with. I'm actually shocked that someone so genuinely pretty works in HF these days. Commercial isn't that big of a stretch looks wise.

what Rachel's got going for her is versatility...
and i would seriously die beyond death if it was Alexander shooting and not CLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARK

I have to agree on all accounts here. Rachel is stunning, and I am also pleasantly shocked that she is so popular in the HF world. Good to her for getting work, no matter what it is. She is a wonderfully sweet girl, so good for her no matter what root she takes.

I am so bad at getting my point across.

^^ too bad i can't comment her profile and ask, nor can i send pms because my pms are messing up again. :hardhead:

i say if the moneys right go for it! and we all know VS shells out dough which is great for her. i will miss her HF eds because she's so good at it!

Allow me to clarify what I said awhile back. :) I'm in no way upset by Rachel doing VS -- I've never seen a shot of her that I didn't love, and if it's fantastic for her career, that's even better. Just that if anything ever happened to pull her away from high fashion, I'd be so sad. :(

the only way it will pull her away from HF altogether is if she ever gets breast implants... lol
