Leave it to Rag & Bone's David Neville and Marcus Wainwright to make a maxi skirt look effortless and sexy at the same time. The ease came from the stripey T-shirt they paired it with; the sexy was taken care of by the sky-high slit and the strips of leather at the waistband and pockets. "When in doubt, add leather," Wainwright said, explaining that the material sells well for the duo in their own stores (the latest in Tokyo's Omotesando neighborhood) and in their wholesale outlets. That explains the pair of biker jackets, one buff, the other black; a leather sweatshirt that has "hit" written all over it; and the papery leather wrap skirts—a direction the designers hinted they're heading in for Fall. Neville and Wainwright also experimented with denim, a fabric at the core of their five-and-a-half-year-old brand, turning it into a paneled, lightweight skirt.

In fact, light might be the defining characteristic of a pre-fall collection they described as "clothes for a downtown girl, for real girls." A striped silk jacket had an almost weightless hand, a T-shirt dress played opaque against sheer, and the open weave of a cardigan sweater, worn tied around the waist as a skirt, exposed a flash of leg. "It delivers in May and June," Neville said. "It's hot; it should be light." Real girls everywhere will thank them.

i said it on my twitter and I'll say it again here, this collection makes me think wild child meets new york socialite(who stays often at her boy friend's house and incorporates his pieces into her own wardrobe) with a penchant for comfort.

I like the whole collection really much, I'd love to own a few pieces

I don't like it; there's no mood or personality; the colour palette? Grey, beige, white, navy and pink?
It looks quite last minute.

This is sooo model streetstyle, hate it!!..

I've had enough of street style collection. "Street chic" is such an oxymoron. And I'm THIS close to shooting Nicole Phelps, her reviews irritate me.

Wow. Boring and cheap-looking.

As much as I love Rag & Bone, I completely agree. And the styling isn't helping at all as well. There's nothing that screams "I need!" in here and thats something I usually find in most Rag & Bone collections.

while i personally have a strong aversion for this entire way of dressing, these two have really tapped into the pulse of how that brooklyn girl actually dresses: she'll mix these pieces with well-selected vintage finds, artisinal jewelry, and the edgiest haircut this side of the mississippi and look quite avant.

Much much better than that awful S/S 2011 collection. This feels more like Rag&Bone again, but there's still lots of looks I hate. But some outfits are great and the shoes are awesome.

I hate what they have done with their S/S 2011 collection, but these clothes look waaay better - you can say that they are too cheap-looking or that the colour-palette is boring, but I find this effortless style rather interesting. What a nice suprise after their last, horrid collection!
