La Zimmermann At Animale

Raquel Zimmermann landed in São Paulo on Tuesday especially for the Animale show last night. Needless to say, every single editor in the country lined up to talk to her backstage before the show, and she took the time to answer of all of their questions. I shot a little video interview with her, which will be up soon, and she told me the first thing she did when she got to her hotel here was turn on the television to watch the Obama inauguration (she was wearing an Obama t-shirt btw).

Pretty, smiling and pleasant. Raquel Zimmermann – who is prepared to walk the Animale catwalk in a little while – received ID in her special dressing room, inside the backstage of the designers. With an Barack Obama tshirt adorned with a purse by Chanel, Raquel from Rio landed in the Biennial Bulding for the show which she will walk for exclusively.

About her professional life and her long career... The top model – who is at present the number in the ranking of Models.com – says she has had many changes: "I had a lot of work for ten years, but after the, we say, nomination, several new works arose".
About walking in Brazil... Raquel swears that, even with her experience, she still feels a coldness in her belly every time steps on the Biennial Building. She added that there is no question of her not walking the fashion week of her country
About nostalgia... Without the time of visit her family, the model – that leaves Brazil this Thursday (22,01) – says that she dies of nostalgia of barbecue and herbal tea. "In new york we have it, but is not to same thing", she explained!
About being number one... And, after all, what guaranteed for Raquel the position of number One? Second to own, "you should have professionalism, otherwise you do not have the skill".

RZ: You wanna know what I've been seeing in Europe in the last collections? I think there are a lot of shoulder structures, especially in Paris, jackets with large shoulders, it's a modern take of the 80s, for a powerful woman.

Reporter: What do you have in your closet that you have for like ten years, that you use all the time, that you mix with new pieces?

RZ: Well, I have this leather jacket that I bought in a vintage store, and I have it for almost ten years and I always wear it, I'm not wearing it today, Im wearing this Animale jacket, but a leather jacket for me is a key-piece.

Repoter: In this rush, how can you be so beautiful, thin, with this skin?

RZ: Well, I have to thank my parents, it's in my family to be tall and thin, they're all like that. But I always take care of myself, using good products on my face and on my hair, and when I have time I always take a ride in my bike.

Onne – Besides the food, do you have any ritual to stay healthy and pretty?
Raquel Zimmermann – Like any woman, I believe taking care of your skin is really important, I try to use good creams and sunscreen, even if I have to pay a little more. Same thing goes to the hair, a good hydration is always nice.

Onne – What piece of clothing you always carry in your lugage?

Raquel Zimmermann – A leather jacket. It's a key-piece and it adjusts to the temperatures and that's great for people who travel a lot.

Onne – Today in São Paulo, in some days you'll be in Europe in other fashion weeks, can you actually get to know the places?
Raquel Zimmermann – Not so much. São Paulo, for example, it's a place where I'd love to know the cultural part - museums, theaters, neighborhoods. It's such an interesting city, full of places to visit, but the rush doesn't allow me.

Onne – Living in New York, do you go out there a lot?
Raquel Zimmermann – Yes. I adore NY! I live on Brooklin with my boyfriend for six years. He is from Chile but he grew up in NY, so he knows a lot of cool places that go beyond the tradicional Manhatan - where everybody goes to.

Onne – And in Brazil, do you have time to visit family and friends?
Raquel Zimmermann – My profissional life is very busy, but I always make it happen. I have a 19 years old sister and a 26 years old brother, who I'm very close. We have almost the same age and we had a nice childhood. We used to ride the skateboards, to climb up trees, to play soccer. Anyway, I really enjoyed that time of my life.


Onne – Do you think today's model are starting to model at a very young age and they're losing this part of their lives?
Raquel Zimmermann – Yes. But I started too early too. I was 15 when I started my career, everything happened so fast, but I wanted it to happen soon. But I was a stubborn.

Onne – Changing the subject a little, how was it to start in a commercial for Gucci, and to be directed by David Lynch?

Raquel Zimmermann – It was an honor to participate in a project with David Lynch. He is incredible, super profissional and competent. It was wondeful.

Onne – Some models, like Gisele Bündchen, end up being actresses and making movies or television. Is it something you hope for?
Raquel Zimmermann – I never thought of being an actress. I've been invited by some producers, but for now I want to invest in my modelling career. Maybe in the future. But in a very distant future.

Straight from SPFW – Raquel Zimmermann is the top number 1 of the world. Because of that, her presence is always a reason for a crowded backstage. And it was like that on Animale's show. Raquel has been exclusive for the brand for eight collections, because of the crazyness, she promised a interview after the runway. And she kept it. Around 11pm, when the Bienal was almost empty, she appeared at the press room. Talked and gave interviews to everyone. RZ: I thought the show was absolutely amazing, the clothes, the hair, the make up, the models, the music, and about fashion I thought it was inovating, I think it's amazing because I think fashion is about daring and showing new ideas and I think they did that with the shapes, the fabrics, the leather that changes color and another materials that when the light hits it shines, I thought it was amazing. It's the eightth time and it's been four years.
Reporter: How is the feeling to always come back for Animale and walk here in Brazil?
RZ: It's very pleasant. We work as a group now, everybody participates, and it's getting stronger each time, and the results keep getting better. Tomorrow I'll be shooting for Vogue Brazil and the next 2 days the Animale campaign and saturday I'm going to Paris, then London, then NY.
Reporter: So you won't enjoy as much your time in Brazil?
RZ: No. I wanted so much to stay here and enjoy my family and friends, I just saw many friends now, Mari Weickert, Marcelle, Ana Claudia, Ana Beatriz and wanted so much to get together and walk around and enjoy the city but unfortunetely it won't happen, maybe next time.

RZ: I really enjoyed talking to you the last time and I'm happy to see you again.

RZ: Always. I even thought "now I'm used to it" but when I was on my way here I got nervous, especially here in Brazil, it's special, I'm from here so I want to do the best I can.

RZ: Thank you. I think discipline and taking the job seriously. It's not a party, some people think that being a model is... you know what I'm talking about. It's a hard job. You gotta be professional, arrive in time...
Reporter: What would you like to do in your life that you can't do it because of your success?
RZ: The main thing is I'd like to spend more time with my family and I can't, for example, I'd like to see my family now but I won't because since I arrived it's been like interviews, photoshoots, show, more photoshoots and then I leave.
